Blood Simple by the Coen brothers.

reply

i love the coens, but i remember not loving blood simple, finding it just a bit too icy & slow-moving. it's been years since i watched it, & ought to give it another go.

another coens film that i didn't quite fall for that everyone else seems to love is miller's crossing - lots of sensible people think it's great, some say it's their best, but i found it repetitive & dull, & only enjoyed seeing gabriel byrne getting the crap beaten out of him repeatedly.

I have to watch this.

reply

I watched it last night - a damn fine crime drama.

YEAH! So glad to here it, I've been championing this film for ages. Did you have to use subtitles? I did at first, but by now I've probably seen it thirty times, always something new to notice, and now I see so much dark comedy in it too. And it's gorgeous to look at, such innovative cinematography and editing. An amazing first feature.

ps - in the book - xXx survives....

reply

I always use subtitles with UK or Australian movies.

Thirty times ?? Wow.
