THE most iconic costumes in the history of film!

I don't think "Star Wars" has any competition. People all over the world can look at a Darth Vader dog toy or hand lotion dispenser and know exactly what it's referring to, and I don't think that any film ever has produced a costume as instantly recognizable as Vader or a stormtrooper.

Still, I'm willing to consider any other candidates. Any costumes more iconic?

Alex De Large and his cronies in A Clockwork Orange

I'd bet real money that if you dressed as a Droog for Halloween, you'd spend all night having to explain where your costume came from.

Not so with STar Wars costumes!

Possibly. Bart Simpson dressed up as him for Halloween

Boris Karloff's 1931 Frankenstein costume. Batman costume in general. The Catwoman costume launched a whole trend in women's clothes as the catsuit or bodysuit became a wardrobe staple for quite a number of women. The television Star Trek costumes were already uber iconic but Abrams did formalize that in film if nothing else. I would say most likely Star Wars has peaked and now is past its prime.
