Apparently, looking at the filmography, not as many films as I had thought I had seen. LOL! I have others to watch!
Here are the ones I have seen in no particular order...
"The Swimmer"
"Play It As It Lays"
"Diary of a Mad Housewife"
"JFK: A One Man Show."
I had no idea that was a Frank Perry film. I remembered this TV Movie from the 80's. It was surprisingly good with Mike Farrel of all people playing J.F.K. Perhaps that alone would make me remember it, but his portrayal took you out of the fact that this was BJ from Mash. I'd love to see this again!
"Last Summer"
I had also thought that Frank Perry had directed "You'll Like My Mother". I am mistaken. Perhaps it was the feeling of the film. It almost had the same feeling you get when you watch one of Frank Perry's films. Perhaps it's because Richard Thomas was in both films.(Last Summer and YLMM) He played totally different parts though. In You'll Like My Mother, he played a rapist/murderer.... very unlike John Boy!
Last, but not least!😄
"Mommy Dearest"
Of course. Hasn't everyone seen it? Try just watching with the commentary. John Waters does this. He's a hoot! It's like watching with an old friend!
That is my list. As I said, I have others to watch!😄

I have seen most, but "Play It As It Lays" has been on my watch-list and hopefully will watch it sooner than later.

If people think that "The Swimmer" is a bit out there, "Play it as it Lays" is really quirky! I saw it for the first time when I was much younger. I didn't understand it. Later, I read the book by Joan Didion. That helped a great deal so I watched it again. I finally understood much of it, but like many good movies, you can always go back and catch little things you have missed on the first viewing. I liked Anthony Perkins in it. Tuesday Weld was good as well in the lead.
It sort of reminds me of Julia Phillips (co producer of The Sting) and her life in her autobiography, "You'll Never Eat Lunch in This Town Again!"

actually "Man on a Swing" is one I have... Never saw "Play It As It Lays" but I was probably averse to it because of Perkins, who just seems nervous constantly.

😄 I'd forget it then. Anthony Perkins will always come off nervous. He has serious issues in this one.
I wouldn't say that this is the best Frank Perry film I've seen. My favorites are
"Last Summer"
"The Swimmer"
"Diary of a Mad Housewife.
..... so far. I have to check out the rest. "Man on a Swing" looks good.

I liked "Last Summer" and "Diary of a Mad Housewife" and I think I gave them both a 7/10... It seems like the time he got divorced, the movies were being made at the same (or better pace at first), which shows what happens to the writing team (he and his ex-wife Eleanor).
