I had an unusual interaction with a man last time I played blackjack.

I sat down at a table and was playing by myself against the dealer, sometimes I would play one hand and sometimes I would play two hands.

A man sat down to my left and started playing. I kept up the changing between one hand and two hands thing.

He said, "Are you going to keep switching like that? If so, I'll go find another table to sit at."

I said, "Fine, I'll play one hand only."

I don't see why the man would care whether I change between playing one hand or two hands. He thought I was going to affect his cards somehow and cause him to lose?

What do you guys think?

I think it was very polite of you to change your game plan on account of some stranger butting in and acting all demanding...frankly, he sounds like a big jerk
Some years ago I was playing Twenty-One and doing my own thing at The Tropicana in Atlantic City and some rando type complained to the dealer that I was annoying him with my constant hitting...like he really got upset, told me to stop hitting as I was screwing up his strategy and eventually got up and went elsewhere because I wouldn't stop
To be fair to that big crybaby I did sort of jump into 'his' table but I can't for the life of me understand why a grown man doesn't understand the definition of the word 'gambling'
It's just kicks, right?

I won 40 bucks and spent it at the bar
Serious gamblers can be weird imo

I'm no good with cards. Somehow I just wasn't exposed to it enough growing up (good thing) or my brain just doesn't know how to calculate odds and that sort of stuff very quickly. Plus I've never had money I didn't mind losing.
BUT, I have heard, or do believe (sorta like what Shogun says below), that how the players play to the left of a BJ player have an effect on what and how cards will come around. That's all I'll say; someone more familiar would have to chime in.

if you aren't stupid enough to believe you can count cards out of an 8 deck shoe, why should it matter what anyone else does ? if anything, splitting and hitting gives the other players an advantage, i would think. i'm not a gambler.
