Should we expand Medicare?

George Bush did. He saddled us with Medicare Part D, the most expensive one. We didn't get any of the reduction in overhead costs we were promised. We just got higher drug prices, because we took the market out of the equation. Why do people still want to expand Medicare even more?

Sure why not? We're already 21.832 Trillion in debt. How is another two or three Trillion going to matter?
Let's just kick the can down the road, and one day the entire economy will implode.

Believe me...you don’t want to saddle the Americans (or illegals) with Medicare! Look at the VA with its multitude of problems. Medicare is a sorry excuse of a healthcare system which is an expensive boondoggle. It pays diddly squat! Why do you think most of us have to pay for a supplement? Some doctors are no longer taking Medicare. And, it would mean more of your income going into FICA.

I was being sarcastic.

The "economy" is doing really well right now... That means there's plenty of big profits that can be taxed more effectively, so that it doesn't have to be kicked down the road.

Of course.. Everyone should have health care.

WOW! Thrillhouse was scared off the T-rump forum and ended up here? LOL !

If the USA closed some of the 800+ military bases around the world, there would be plenty of money to provide Medicare for all, but nooooooo, the USA has to be the military industrial complex, so people who need help with health care can't get it. Very sad.

How don't they get it? Those on Welfare or SSA /Disability have free Healthcare if they visit the doctor who accepts it. If you mean the middle-class, they are not entitled to free HealthCare because they choose to spend their money on things (or live in places) which are not essential and not within their means--yet feel owed to free Healthcare..

Sure, close off some "military bases", so you'll end up wearing a hardhat if we are invaded/attacked by the enemy. if you spent 300.00 less a month on your rent or clothes (and other purchases which are too expensive), you could afford medical insurance also.

This is another never-ending case of self-entitlement. One's employer also offers health insurance, except for certain occupations. Take a trip to other countries where they live in dire poverty; you'll feel better about America when you return.

United Kingdom. . . .all of these countries provide universal healthcare for their citizens. The USA which is supposedly the richest country in the world, does not. Shameful!

Healthcare is meant to be free, I assume. So, we should assume that we can spend money frivolously, then expect free health insurance? Why do we think the $50,000 car is what we deserve instead of the $30,000 car (or a car at all), or that $500,00 house when the $300,000 house is just fine? The extra money adds up.
And comparing ourselves to other countries is dubious; the USA has a better quality of life in general. We do not live in a Socialistic country (and you likely would not want to)

If we stopped financing illegal foreigners the US would be even richer
