Is the term "Latino" offensive to you?

University professors are now using the term "Latinx" instead of "Latino" over fear of offending the transgender community or its allies. Have you heard this? Apparently they had been working on this idea for over three years. I don't even know how it's supposed to be pronounced. It looks like it's designed to cause confusion. We spend all this effort trying not to offend very specific groups in very specific ways but then Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor will brazen say something like "A wise Latina will make a better decision than a white male every time" and she is confirmed to the Supreme Court without controversy. It is a very lopsided system. We still have people insisting it's about tolerance and good manners while at the same time those values are used as justification for behaving as badly as possible.

It's like when someone says "Oh hi Rafe" Or "hi Ball" when they mean to say Paul. It urts some peoples right in their feeling parts but otherwise people have different feelings. You're saying white males are big dumb faces, so thats very not too valid fif they eat a little but not too much!

la -tinx

like short for la tinkletoes.

i think latino/a is mucho better.

No it's not offensive to me. It's the Spanish way of identifying a man or woman. What's the problem? The transgender community identifies itself as man or woman, so like I said what's the problem?
