A prayer for Californians
I pray no one else is hurt or killed in those fires. Those poor folks have suffered enough already!

shareThank you. Unfortunately many lives have been lost especially in the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA. The entire town was destroyed. Pray for rain!
shareAmen.
shareWell said...whole communities are being destroyed
Its an awful state of affairs
Prayers for sure
The Feds need to kick in on the recovery...i think this disaster could bust Californias coffers and severely strain the insurance companies
Part of me suspects that the banks or other parties might end up acquiring much of that land for a song.
shareI certainly hope not but i could see this as a real possibility...im really tired of seeing big bankers feast while the rest of us do the dishes!
I will be happy to be corrected by our Cali MC crew but this is my understanding...
Much of the heavily populated areas of California were somewhat arid and the climate and topography were all wrong for supporting millions of people...still, the place was a paradise so we heavily populated it...
Eventually, massive irrigation systems were put in place to support the housing, the landscaping, the pools , the infrastructure, etc.
But when Cali suffers a prolonged drought and water restrictions go into effect all it takes is some dummy chucking a cig out of his car window and you have a problem
I may have simplified that but is that mostly the case?
California is a bit too arid..?
Much of the southern area is desert, yes. This state survives on long distance irrigation. There are, however, regions which feature diverse environments. During the winter it's possible to travel from snowy forests to sunny deserts in about an hour or so.
shareIt seems we over built there
Irrigation is key
If the higher elevation watersheds are not at capacity AND a drought happens catastrophe ensues
Large scale agriculture may play a role...just a thought.
Over here in The Bronx we get tons of produce from the California fields everyday in a place called Hunts Point
They have huge truck depots and the train runs throug here
Maybe Cali is overextending itself on agriculture to the detriment of its own water supply?
