Are you part of the "MTV generation"?

I think I was born a little too late for that. But I remember when I was 18 years old, MTV was still popular (people liked this show about Jessica Simpson.)

MTV Pimp My Ride was my favorite show.

reply

I remember that show but I never watched it....

reply

It's hillarious!

reply

That was a really good show
Xzibit was a cool dude and seemed to be having a blast!

I like how they put TVs everywhere, like a TV on the bumpers, another TV on the roof, etc. So ridiculous and awesome.

reply

I mostly watched it back in the 90s, when The Real World just started.

reply

Yeah, it's mostly a 90s thing.

reply

And they still showed music videos back then. I did still watch it sometimes in the 2000's, like The Osbournes and Newlyweds.

reply

F*** yeah I was👍

reply

I guess I was as I was born in the early 70's and remember when MTV started up, songs like Video Killed The Radio star. That was when MTV actually played music.

Australia tried doing it's own version but it was pretty terrible.

I'm old enough to remember when MTV first started up and was actually a music video channel. We'd sit and watch hoping for one of our favorite bands to play.

I suppose so...i was 8 when it launched in 81 and distinctly remember some of the earliest hit videos...
Video Killed the Radio Star, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bruce Springsteen stuff and of course, Michael Jackson's Thriller (which completely blew all of us kids away!)
I remember yelling out the window that Thriller was premiering in a few minutes and all the neighbor kids piled into my TV room to watch with me
Thriller is the greatest music video ever produced in my opinion

Great times!

I was a kid when it came out, but it was still going strong by the time I was in middle and high school. I remember when it was pretty much just music videos and MTV News.
