How come Europe ended slavery without a Civil War?
I think the Civil War was unnecessary and is glorified by the media and academia because they love war. Think about it. Income inequality has increased since slavery. How did that happen? It turns out wage slavery is a superior economic system. Historians dedicate their lives to explaining away simple truths like these.
