I meet a lot of people with tats, many not so young (but not old, either). One woman I'm thinking of said she waited until her kids were out of the house (?) and she has some very visible tattoos, but they aren't overwhelming. She's rather attractive, and I'm always a little surprised she smokes cigarettes. Maybe there is a correlation there, hmm?
Another very good looking younger woman I met (who happens to work in a drug screening lab) has a very prominent tat on her arm, and when asked she said it was for a friend who had passed away a while ago. (I say "a while ago" because when I expressed my sympathy, she stated it had been a while, which I thought was interesting since she had gone to the trouble to memorialize this person, yet shrugged it off as something she had gotten over.)
So me? No tats. Can't see making that expense just to follow the crowd, and they just don't say anything to me.
But I see 'em all the time. Unless someone is dumb enough to get a facial tattoo, I figure that's their thing and don't think about it too much. Wouldn't Not date a woman over her tats.

I meet a lot of people with tattoos as well, working in retail. This older woman comes in every once in awhile, she's probably 70 or older and has several visible black ink tattoos. She's got a short blonde haircut and always dresses in white clothes. I can't remember what they actually are or if I even know in the first place but I like that she has several. I live in a small bible thumpin' southern town so when you factor all that in, you can understand how odd it is that she has them.
I don't smoke cigarettes but I do know a lot of people with tattoos that do. The tattoo artists I've been to have always smoked. I don't know what draws people to cigarettes. I've tried them for a few months when I was a teenager but got tired of them pretty quickly.
I'm glad they don't turn you off though, I always find that statement harsh.
