I'm watching '2001: A Space Odyssey' (1968) for the first time!

Currently about 30 minutes in.

That rectangular object was a surprise. I'm guessing it was meant to be symbolic? Because the movie showed that same spot later and it was gone. It definitely wasn't a natural-occurring object.

Dunno if it's explained later. Cool movie so far. :)

I barely saw it about 2 years ago. It starts out alright, then bam, you're asleep. You're probably waking up right about now, lol. Watch Fail Safe (1964) if you want an oldie but a goodie.

I finished it. I liked it.

I'm surprised it's only rated G.

Did you stay awake?

I've never seen that one. I've always been fond of Stanley Kubrick's style. And everything in a Stanley Kubrick film is symbolic.

Do you like Eyes Wide Shut? It gets a lot of hate, but I think it's fantastic. After No Country For Old Men, it's the second most suspenseful movie I've seen. Both kept me on the edge of my seat in the theater.

I've only watched The Shining and A Clockwork Orange when it comes to Stanley Kubrick. I haven't seen No Country For Old Men.

Kubrick is the best! Please watch Barry Lyndon immediately.

That's the Monolith, and to say that it's "symbolic" is a huge understatement.

I saw it when it premiered back in 1968, and was left in a state of stunned awe. It's awesome, and the greatest film of all time by the greatest director of all time imho! It's the only film which I have ever rated 10/10. I've probably seen it a half dozen times.
