Comedian actors who don't do it for you

I loathe Rodney Dangerfield. Never thought he was funny and his presence in a movie drags it down. I realize I am giving him no respect at all but still.

Not that she's necessarily a comedian, but Kate McKinnon's acting work is overall flat-out bad. She always seems to be playing a type rather than a believable character.

Similarly, Tig Notaro has never struck me as funny both in her standup performances and acting work. I understand that humor is subjective and often can lean heavily on delivery, but the combination of flat tone and punchlines that are less structured jokes and more "so that happened" narratives just doesn't work. Some people are lucky enough fit into a diversity quota that they fail upward.

Dane Cook has told a couple funny original jokes here and there, but aside from one particular role I haven't seen him break out of his standup persona.

I see what you did there. For me it's Jerry Seinfeld. I always considered him to be the straight man ( a good one ) on the tv show 'Seinfeld' while the other actors were the comedians. And his stand-up while not awful is not particularly funny either.
