"Breaking the Fourth Wall" for creepy/scary effects

Anybody can name any examples where the "Breaking the Fourth Wall" technique is used for a creepy or scary effect?

Also, what are good ways of using this technique?

One example I can think of is the visual novel, [spoiler]Doki Doki Literature Club.[/spoiler]

Art the clown coming up to the screen the same way he did in the movie at the end of 'All Hallow's Eve'.

The game Puzzle Agent does it well. It's a family friendly game but it does have a moment when reality gets tilted quite considerably.
