Does marriage reduce promiscuity?
I have heard this argument in favor of same sex marriage. I do not think it is right. Can someone help defend or explain it? Thanks.

shareMaybe.
shareAs long as a pretty lady is promiscuous with me, I don't care whether she's married or not.

Why even get married? It doesn’t change anything except future financial problems in the long run
shareTo each their own. I’m glad I got married. If you want to have children, it is better for them. If not, then you’re on your own.
shareI respect that , but I believe there is not difference from going has girlfriend and boyfriend living together the previous day & the next day as husband and wife.
We still had sex, we were living together etc...It's just in the long run, the split is easier, no lawyer fees
You have just pointed out a difference. “The split is easier”. In marriage your mind set going in should be there will never be a split. I realize it happens, but if you are going in with the mind set that you are eventually going to split, you should not get married. Maybe I misread your comment, but it sounds like you expect an eventual split.
shareEvery couple split, roughly in 10 years...If they stay together, there isn't much love to be honest. Mostly it's for financial or children reasons.
I miss the high school love, it was so easier back then. You could cheat, dump, have sex for the fun of it...Unless you fathered a kid, then you were in shit..
Well, there I will disagree. My wife and I have been together for over 50 years. We have numerous friends who have been married for similar lengths of time. Perhaps every couple you know splits, but in the world around you there are numerous examples to prove you wrong.
For starters, George and Barbara Bush, and if you want the other side of politics, Jimmy and Roslyn Carter.
While 50% of marriages end in divorce, less than 50% of people get divorced. There are the small number with 3 or 4 or more divorces that drive up the overall percentage. More than 50% of marriages last until the death of one of the spouses.

I think it adds an extra layer to curb the behavior, but its depends on the person really. Marriage alone won't stop a person from being promiscuous.
shareDon't know, but promiscuity reduces marriage.
