New Game: Switch an Actor's Roles in the Same Year

Just as we all wished that Patrick Swayze had played Han Solo, that Tom Cruise had played Princess Leia, that Kiefer Sutherland had played their ethnic CGI embryo instead of Will Smith, so too do we wish that fun movie casting choices occurred once in a while. I think it was either Einstein or Mother Teresa who said: "Anyone can dream, but it takes a certain genius to dream within arbitrary restrictions."

Whatever, here's the game: How would two movies change if the roles of the same actor were exchanged? For example: Speed was released the same year as Dumb & Dumber. In one film, Jeff Daniels plays a character named Harry, who follows his best friend on a journey of increasingly escalating stakes until they both emerge changed forever. The other movie is called Speed. Imagine the earth-shattering differences if Jeff Daniels had switched characters in these respective films!

These don't necessarily have to be movies that were released the same calendar year, just ones in which the same actor could feasibly switch roles. What do you all think? Who else might have made some amusing changes of character?

Swap Matt Damon's characters from Good Will Hunting and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Tom Ripley romances Skylar (Minnie Driver), but only to insinuate himself into her social circle. Then he proceeds to run every scam imaginable on her, her family and her friends. Scoops up the cash and disappears, leaving her heartbroken and bankrupt.

Will Hunting, while bashing in Freddy's (Philip Seymour Hoffman) skull with the stone bust of a Roman Emperor: "How do you like THEM apples!"

reply

"Applesauce, bitch."

I would like to see the character Dr. Scultz (Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained) swapped with Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Basterds.)

Hillarity ensues!

I guess it counts to switch them in the same movie, then.

Demolition Man with the roles of Snipes and Stallone reversed.

(Yes I realize I misunderstood the topic!)

Let me play this game!

How about if the roles of John Travolta and Nic Cage reversed in Face/Off? I know, right? Mind. Blown.
