Bonfire of the Vanities - Spoilers - let 'dem spoilers fly

With the recent passing of Tom Wolfe, I had been meaning to re-screen Bonfire of the Vanities and finally did last night.

Several things struck me (not so much about the movie itself)

That opening tracking shot. What was it about 1990 and tracking shots? Goodfellas Copa shot came out that same year. Oh, and the Scorsese's is still the best ever.

I think this is the film that first revealed that Morgan Freeman is GOD.

For the first third of the movie, Tom Hanks played against "type".

I could not help thinking that perhaps this film helped Dick Wolf in creating Law & Order.
