Doing a short film and I need help with (specific) music recommendations.

The film I'm doing has a number of dream sequences and I'm looking for music that relies heavily on sitar, but in a psychedelic way. It doesn't really have to be all sitar, but I want it in heavy use.

I'm looking for something like this, but it's just not psychedelic enough:

I wish i could help
I have no idea about that sort of music but nice enough i will say

Maybe someone else will see this and have a suggestion...
Does the music need to be public domain so as to avoid royalties, etc?
You should consider this too when choosing

Cheers to indie film makers buddy!
Best wishes

reply

Thanks. It doesn't have to be public domain. I'm not planning on selling it. I'm just doing it for experience. I got a few actor friends who are doing it for experience, too.

Major props!
Good luck Amigo

Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles

reply

I've considered that. Not enough sitar, but definitely psychedelic!

How about 'Within You Without You' by the Beatles - plenty of sitar

reply

Oh, that's a good one.

reply

This might do...not sure it's quite enough of either...let me know what you think!

WTF, I've been trying to find that track for over 20 years! (Well, I tried a few times, not the entire time) Heard it at a party in college and was only told it was Beastie Boys. Thanks!

reply

Any time my man!!! The whole album is nstrumental...really interesting stuff...HIGHly
Recomend😉

reply

Not bad. I'll keep it on m radar.

reply

Great!👍 I'd be interested in checking you're short out...also discussing am film making. Working on a script that includes the members of this board...a satirical piece borrowing heavily from motion picture lore, trivia, controversy etc. My goal is to see it realized in an animated feature that I would host on my YouTube channel.
You seem way ahead of me in am film making...so any opportunity to gain knowledge would be appreciated!!! Anyway...have a good one!

reply

One other thing if it matters...I believe the beasties boys released the album with the soul intent of fans to record lyrics and sample from with consent from the group...that may make it possible to use royalty free👍

reply

Cool thanks. I'm not selling my film anyway.

reply

Oh right on...figured you'd host it on YouTube...a very personal project huh?😉

reply

Depends if everyone in the film is okay with it. A few of my friends were still in college/university and wanted it for part of their portfolio's. I graduated years ago but I volunteered because I enjoy directing and more experience wouldn't hurt.

This is a great song overall, and as for the sitar, it comes in at 3:10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pev0dINRaok

Nice one.

Something off of this record would surely suffice? Material - Hallucination Engine:

It's not available.

reply

Huh. Possibly not available in your country? Youtube search "Material Hallucination Engine".

reply

Yeah. I got it now. Interesting stuff.
