What do you miss the most about the 90's?

Me what I miss the most about the 1990's was the low gas prices, food, toiletries were a lot more affordable and of course the music was a lot better.

My 3 sons in the house day & night. I'd hug 'em chest-to-chest, just squeeze 'em as tight as I could after soaking their hands in the warm, soapy dishwater while I cleaned their dirty faces from playing outside.

"Don't you love your old dad?"

"Yes."

"Then tell him that some time."

"I love you dad."

reply

Not only music, movies were also a lot better.

mostly my mother & our epic road trips. She would say, let's go and we'd get in her 85 (might have been an 88) TransAm, t-tops down, our long brown hair blowing around us. We would listen to the radio, grab a bite to eat and just drive. Also, people seemed to be a lot nicer, Less phone/social media obsessed.

For me, the general fact that, because I was evidently younger, I was largely unaware (for better or worse) about other stuff going on in the world at that time that didn't concern me. Also liked the computer games, music, films, etc. of that time.

Of course, even though I was only about 7 when the new millennium hit, I still remember that even as a really young one, I had some mild issues. Mostly personal behavioral issues, much of which I've largely overcome by now at 25.

Still there were some good times back then. And, yes, there are even SOME good times now (for me at least) I'm thankful to say. :)

I loved the movies and music of the 90s! I've went back and watched several that I missed or never knew about then and I've enjoyed them so much :) I still have my favorites that I enjoy even now at 31. I was 14 in 2000, it was a little tough for me. My mother had passed away two years prior and I was still a little angry about it to say the least. I've grown a lot since then. I'm really happy with the way my life is now though. Glad you have good times too! :D

reply

Aww, thanks, thewaitress. Glad you're happy with your life at the moment. I'm honestly pretty happy overall with mine, too. :) Take care!

reply

Agreed with you that people seemed to be a lot nicer, more open and relaxed then than now.

My son was born in 1992.
Going back to school and then my wife went back to school 96-97. Spent a lot of time with the little man.

I miss my family members and friends who have passed away.
At times, I also miss our son being at home and his friends hanging out listening to music, laughing and eating us out of house and home!
I also miss the good TV shows

I have let go though. Those are nice memories. I also remember the not so great times so I have no wish to go back to those times.
Right here, in the moment is where I want to be. the world may not be the way I'd like it to be but I'm content and happy in this stage of our lives.

Exactly. And as I mentioned in my post earlier in this thread, while I do fondly remember the good times in the past, I also remember some of the NOT-so-good ones; ones I'm glad have passed.

And, yes, for the time being. I'm content to be in the present moment. I acknowledge that there are some things that COULD easily be better than they are now. But I'm thankful there are also good times now as there were back then. :)

Very well said, Miss Margo Channing!

Workable video games. It was the last hurrah for the Cubster. Super Techmo Bowl was my final triumph. After Super Nintendo they went to controllers with way too many buttons. I was done.

reply

I couldn't agree more. Techmo Bowl was awesome.... PS. I'm the Raiders... I'm Bo Jackson

The Chiefs with Derrick Thomas here!

I brought it out a couple years ago and had an absolute blast.

reply

I remember I just played as Marcus Allen and ran for 500 yards a game haha

reply

And if you played a season which I did the AI would kick in the deeper you went in the playoffs till finally it really wasn't football. It was survival. You could feel before you threw the ball if it was gonna be an interception.

reply

Yes. I remember... Many a controller was hucked across the room back then.

reply

LOL! Me too! Get the little screw driver out (that was right there ready to use) open the back in hopes it could be fixed. Then after so many repairs the controller would no longer snap back together and that's when the roll of tape was employed. Nothing worse than opening that controller and finding the little green board cracked. Money-thrown-away as I got my duds on and shoes and headed on up for a new one.

Some of the old NES games were freaking impossible. Ones that stick out in my mind are, Double Dragon (machine gun boss) Ninja Gidan, Super Mario 2, Contra (even with the code) and Amagon. Nothing like looking forward to renting a game all week, then not making it past the first level haha

reply

I recall the kids mastered Contra, but, I was completely lost. & then Super Batter Up. I made the boys pitch me down the middle and I still couldn't beat 'em. LOL.

The fact that I was younger. Other than that, I don't remember much about the 90's.
