Time travel...

Yes or no?

I say yes, as long as we take Doc Brown's advice and don't skew the timeline into any tangents.

Yes, always turn to Hollywood for the big conundra in life! They know what they're talking about!

There's really nothing to counter Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure with. We all know that movie was based on exact science.

I'd trust him before I'd trust myself.

That troll analogy is spot on
Well done!

reply

Traveling in time is like responding to a troll on a message board. You think you’ll just slip in one little thing, but it balloons out of control and becomes a big mess.

Best analogy ever XD
"I'll just go back in time and fix this 1 error..."
"I'll just respond to the troll and set 1 fact straight..."
(one apocalypse later...) "bad idea"

Only to watch without touching?

Where will be the fun in that? A definitly yes,I would like to change some things

reply

Yes, but changing even what appears to be very minor things can have a major impact. Things may not even go as planned such as if you intended to give someone money. There are people that I knew who could have used money but would have not taken it from a source that they did not know. I would give a younger version of myself a lecture on life but have no idea if it would take as the younger me was very sure minded. I have thought about the notion of going back and investing money strategically and darned if it is not a whole lot more complicated than it looks in the movies or television.

Time travel can ONLY skew history...
Thats why we are fortunate that time travel is impossible

Lets take everybodys favorite...the kill Hitler scenario

We send an agent back in time, say early '39 before the Invasion of Poland
The agent knows where Hitler will be that particular morning, a rally say, and he can get close enough to seal the deal and has accepted that this is essentially a suicide mission (Hitler was already heavily guarded by the mid '30's...)
POP goes the weasel and humanity wins!!

No.

Germany sinks back into economic depression, angst and sullen rage and old Joe in the USSR looks out from his porch weighing his options...
To the East Stalin sees an aggressive, expanding Japanese Empire and wants no trouble with them at the moment...Japan thoroughly cleaned Russia's clock 35 years earlier
To the West he sees no threat but two puny Fascist punks, Il Duce and Franco...Joe decides what needs doing and calls all the commie boys in for a sit down...
WW II commences anyway, and you had better believe that the vile Nazi Holocaust would have been replaced by an equally evil Soviet version
Stalin wasted at least 20 million of his own during his reign so God bless Western Europe in this scenario

Time travel is a bad idea

reply

Dude, just run Hitler over with a carriage while he's playing outside as a 4-year old. Gavrilo Princip may never even shoot Franz Ferdinand in the altered timeline. WW I avoided and no angry Germans.

reply

See!
this is why i love this thread
Endless possibilities...

So Franco or Benito goes nuts and attacks everyone..?

I love this game
We should keep it going!

Nice OP btw...you did quite nicely Lady

All the time😘

Don't meddle with time traveling! The results could cause a chain reaction that would unravel THE VERY FABRIC of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

reply

Sure, watch a movie called "Primer". It's excellent.
