Women and Drivers license

Is it just me, or do women generally get their driver's licenses later than men?

I have a friend who's in her 40s and she still doesn't have a license. My wife is in her 30s and still doesn't have hers, and my ex-girlfriend is 40 and just got hers.

At least in the U.S., that was definitely the case in my parents' generation. But I don't know if it is true today.
