Movies in serious need of an editor?

"Shutter Island" Would have been an absolute masterpiece at a taut 90 minutes. In its present form it's still quite good ... but impossibly bloated.

"Ben Hur." As much as I like this one I always find myself getting a tad drowsy whenever I watch it. Trimming this one down to 2 hours would have improved it considerably.

Which part do you want edited and which part do you wish to keep ;)

Have you seen it? The opening of the race could be a lot shorter. Minutes and minutes of a view through a car window. The blowjob scene was the most uncomfortable sex scene I have seen in my life.

But then again, I think it was Vincent Gallo’s intention to make a film that gets a negative reaction, he’s self loathing like that.

I have actually never been interested in the movie, I have seen clips and that is about it. Gallo is not a director that typically interest me.

I did like buffalo 66.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) I thought the film was entertaining enough it just felt painfully long.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) I don't think the movie would ever be good but some well placed edits could do a lot to make it tolerable for some.

whats so great about shutter island ? its just a generic thriller with scorsese stamped on it..it didnt really explore anything..
I would say half of malick movies

I'm one of the few who was singularly unimpressed with Shutter Island, Scorsese or no. To me, as to you, it was a generic thriller.

Jackie Brown. ‘Way too long. Tarantino loves himself too much to murder his darlings.

reply

Funny Games. There is literally about 15 minutes all up where nothing happens.

The Hateful Eight - you knew the ending from the start but had to sleep through 2 hours first!
