Movies you consider trash front to back

My other post is about movies you struggle to like, but are drawn back to due to some unknown force. For this one, what is a movie that (for you) has no redeeming qualities?

For me it's V For Vendetta, hate it hate it hate it

reply

[deleted]

That's a solid choice, the one I really hate is Watchmen, and really every Zack Snyder movie except his Dawn of the Dead remake, which I don't love, but it's fun

reply

Snyder is hit or miss for me. I liked Watchmen, though it took a couple of viewings. I liked Man of Steel.

Didn't like 300 and Batman vs. Superman was an abomination.

reply

BVS is more toilet paper than a movie. I've watched Watchmen like 5 times and it never got good for me. The worst atrocity (besides BVS) was Sucker Punch, that was painful and did not get a second chance

reply

I didn't know Sucker Punch was him. Total crapfest, I agree.

reply

Yeah at the time he was saying it was the movie he'd been waiting to make his entire career, then it was that

reply

Gravity

Not a movie I normally watch but I watched it.
There was nothing about this movie I liked at all.
I didn't like the characters and the whole story was too far fetched.
There were times I was hoping Bullock would just die and end the misery.

reply

[deleted]

Ha!

Godzilla was cast. It went by the pseudonym of Sandra Bullock!

reply

[deleted]

So weird !

That's EXACLTY what I was going to say!

"To weep is to make less the depth of grief."
He will be missed.

"There were times I was hoping Bullock would just die and end the misery."
Yes!
A prentious load of nonsense or a load of prentious nonsense even!

reply

I've never been a fan of her and rarely will watch a movie that she's in.
I did watch this one and wondered Why?
I certainly hope I've learned my lesson.

reply

With the advent of streaming I can bail out on movies I don't like. So two from a number of years ago when I used to go to theaters:

Inception
Vanilla Sky

I watched 20 minutes or so of Shape of Water and bailed.

reply

Haven't seen shape of water yet, but the other two you mentioned I actually quite liked. Inception was 10 times better than Dark Knight Rises, but not a 10th the movie that The Prestige or Memento were

reply

Vanilla Sky was a horrible remake.

The original was much better.

reply

I like them both, but I never hated Cruise, just his bullshit "beliefs"

reply

For whatever reason I haven't liked Cruise since Risky business.
His beliefs just solidified my judgment.
I haven't seen more of his movies than I've seen.

My favorite role of his is probably Tropic Thunder.
So I'm sure I'm very biased.
I've never even seen Top Gun.

reply

I love Top Gun, but again I'm gay and that probably has a lot to do with it

reply

lol!

Yeah, I'm sure that would help.

reply

You're still like the only person to respond to my personal advice post, you were very helpful

reply

I appreciate it but I know I wasn't that helpful. lol

Sad that even today there are somethings that people don't want to talk about.
I think most people just don't want to get involved.
We've had our share of trolls on here so people are leery of certain subjects.
Don't take it personally.

At the end of the of the day we're all human beings.
The details may be different but we all want the same thing.

reply

Just your willingness to throw in was helpful. I am definitely not a troll (although a troll would say that.) I'm pretty straight up and at least someone wanted to talk to me about something real that night

reply

Straight up but not straight to be clear

reply

I think that's been made abundantly clear. lol
I also like to have some fun just in case you didn't know.
Also hope you stick around.

Straight up, now tell me,
Is it gonna be you and me together,
Oh, oh, oh, or are you just havin' fun

reply

Oh oh oh

reply

Have some fun is quite ambiguous, hmm, now I'm just hearing what I want to

reply

My options are always left open.
So maybe for the holidays or something.
Maybe for Arbor Day!

We tend to go on and on and on sometimes.
You either love it or hate it or just get used to it.

reply

K, don't mean to blather You're just the only one engaging with me lately

reply

Don't worry.
People will get used to you.

Sometimes we're suspicious of new people.
Just keep making intelligent posts and have a bit of fun and you'll be fine.

reply

I just started posting a lot here but I held the same handle on imdb for 15 years, I don't feel new

reply

Not everybody from IMDb is here yet.
Which is a good thing.

You have 118 posts.
You are new.

Why Pete Rose?
Baseball fan?

reply

When I created my account on imdb, there was a banner ad for his autobiography, I really like the sound of it, had a poetic ring, with masculine and feminine qualities. Also my real first and last name are single syllables like that, so it feels right. I tolerate baseball but I'm much more of a hockey guy.

reply

That makes sense. Sort of.

Hockey, really? You and hownos will get along great.
You do know hockey isn't a real sport?
It doesn't even have a ball for cryin out loud.

reply

[deleted]

Thanks twinA, you and dewey give me the impression that this place is what I hoped, a replacement for imdb but without all the mindless bickering. I remember a time when imdb had more people like you guys, and less of the other. Hope we can keep it that way

reply

I'd say give things a shot especially when you don't like people's personal lives because it often illustrates how little connection there is between creative ability and personal shiz

reply

I agree.
There are plenty of people I don't like that I still will watch a movie if they are in it.
Sometimes I do like the movie.
He's just one of those people that I may purposely not see one of his movies just because of him.
I've watched some of his from the early 2000's and didn't like any of them.
I also don't think he's a good actor and find it difficult to waste my time with somebody
who's name is bigger than their talent.

reply

Fair, not your guy, I would still check out Magnolia, it's an ensemble and he doesn't hog the screen really. Totally worth it especially for Philip Seymour Hoffman and William H Macy alone

reply

Just based on what I've seen from you I will watch it.
Hopefully with an open mind.

reply

That's why I'll watch the Andy Garcia Denver one, it's hard to find a kindred movie spirit, and things I haven't seen that may be good get fewer all the time

reply

It is hard to find somebody who you trust with movies.

I also don't watch many newer movies. I'm usually disappointed.
I do watch a lot of foreign movies and "golden age" movies.

reply

I don't watch a lot of new stuff either, but I'm trying lately to spread my viewing out across the decades to include this one and it's hard

reply

In the last month I've watched more newer movies than I have in the previous
5 years. Almost everyone I haven't liked.

I did see Shape of Water at the theater.
Went for the first time in a year.
I really enjoyed it. It was beautifully filmed and a throwback to the older movies
of that genre.

reply

I'm not a Cruise fan either. Don't think he's a good actor.

But, I will say I saw one movie he was in where he was surprisingly and perfectly cast. I caught it on TV, knowing nothing about it, not that he was in it, nothing. Probably if I'd known he was in it, I'd have kept flipping. I didn't even recognise him to begin with.

It's Collateral, 2004. https://moviechat.org/tt0369339/Collateral

It's really good. Very compelling, and I'm so glad I didn't keep flipping the channel. Cruise plays a *great* villain! Who knew?

reply

Oddly enough the first 20 minutes of The Shape of Water are the best of the movie.

reply

that is scary

reply

Every single "superhero" movie.

reply

Is there really not even one that you like? There are so many to choose from.

reply

No,there isn't.

reply

Well, I'm sure it will end in the next few years. Overexposure and people will get sick of it.

reply

I don't think so,the younger generation loves special effects and violence in this genre.

reply

Batman and Robin. Still pissed I went to see that in the theater.

reply

Woo, yeah that was a doozy

reply

I just watched Evan Almighty and it belongs on this list

reply

Scarface.

reply

Inherent Vice was complete garbage

reply

Thanks I knew I wasn't crazy
