Godfather II for me. Whereas the original is an accessible blockbuster the sequel is colder, more remote and harder to grasp -- reflecting the psyche of its horrific central character. Both are great but the follow-up's black heart and refusal to make it easy for the viewer appeals to me more. Then again, many just think of them as one film, refusing to compare the two (a mentality I can understand and appreciate).
shareThe Godfather. The parallel storylines in II don't really work for me. I also thought some of the storyline was absurd.
shareIf you split them three ways, I'd take the prequel part of II, then I in it's entirety, then the sequel part of II.
