War movies are one of my favorite genres. Lately I've been exploring foreign ones. List em here!

Intimate Enemies; France

A drama following a French platoon during Algeria's war of independence.

9th Company; Russia (I really liked this one. It's Russia's "Full Metal Jacket".

Unmotivated; Israel (Good movie to watch with your girlfriend!)

Female Israeli soldiers are posted to a remote desert base and spend their time pushing paper until they can return to civilian life.

Stalingrad is made my the same director as 9th Company. Good movies. I'm kind of ashamed I haven't seen Das Boot.

I haven't seen 9th company but really liked Stalingrad. I'll have to check it out.

You should be ashamed. What were you thinking? :P

The Cranes Are Flying is another one that is brilliant.
Not so much a typical war movie as a drama with war in it.

Das Boot made me claustrophobic and freaked me out...i dont know how they can live in those subs!

You had to have balls of steel to be a submariner back in the day. It's really sad about that Argentinian Sub that went missing last month. The families have stated that it was a piece of junk.

I usually skip ALL news but weather/traffic/sports
Terrible to hear and my heart goes out to the families

"The Battle of Algiers" (which is also my #6 ever)
"La Grand Illusion" would make my Top 20 overall
