Superhero action movies rarely get Oscar nominations except Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight, and I think they just gave him that one out of sympathy.
shareWW/Gadot/Jenkins did nothing Oscar-worthy. I argue for feminist issues myself, and liked the movie, but it was a pretty basic movie which was performed and filmed in a very straightforward manner, nothing significant or particularly impressive.

That assistant was definitely my favorite part of the movie, and criminally underutilized!

Tom Hanks was overlooked for Best Actor
shareSeems like Disaster Artist did get one nomination, for Best Adapted Screenplay.

What's surprising is Logan managed to get the same nomination. I didn't even know it was adapted from something (a certain comic storyline?). I enjoyed the movie but I'm not sure I would have nominated it. But a nice win for a comic book movie.
first time for a superhero movie

Logan was more of an indirect adaptation, but it comes from the Old Man Logan comics, I do believe.
shareFranco didn't deserve a nom.
shareThe Room was beyond bad. So I have no interest in watching a movie about a bad movie.
Disaster Artist is more of a disturbing portrayal of a mentally imbalanced person obsessed with becoming famous. The trailers make it look like more of a comedy, but it's far from it.
Franco didn't have to try very hard to do the role. He basically uses one head pose and dutifully recreates Tommy's slurred speech patterns (aka, he mumbles).
As for the movie overall, I don't recommend it. I thought it would be more interesting, and I don't even think I finished it. Watched most of it, though, probably only twenty minutes left. No interest in finishing. It's kind of depressing.
