Attention Spans

Maybe this is why they keep making junk, because they know the average viewer they want to target (young adults) can't go 5 seconds without staring at their phones, and each movie wants to make money, so they dumb it down.

It's a reminder, it's the reason we're all here -- hopefully we can avoid the majority of the bad movies, and turn each other on to the great stuff, and I have. I'd say half the movies I watch are recommended from other movie fans, especially after getting to know their tastes on here.

Also, when it's no longer hip to drive and text, maybe people would hide it, and not use them at the theater, during a conversation - not getting 100% of life.

Texting/talking on one's cell phone in the movie theatre during a movie that people often pay good money to come and see is disruptive, rude, and unfair to the people in the movie theatre who truly wish to see and enjoy the movie in question with distractions like cellphone use in the theatre. The small, bright lights of a cellphone are very distracting.

All of the above having been said, if people are going to text and talk on their cellphones, they should either talk/text on their cellphones while they're at home, or in an office booth, where they can't interfere with other people's right to watch a movie in a movie theatre that they paid good money to come and see, without distractions like that, and for other people to be safe on the roads, and not put in danger by people who insist in talking/texting on their cellphones while driving

As for texting/talking on cellphones in movie theatres, Alamo Drafthouse has the right idea; If an offender persists on texting/talking on their cellphone in the movie theatre, or using it as a flashlight, after two warnings, the offender(s) are promptly booted out of the movie theatre, with no refunds of their money. If more movie theatres did that, maybe more people would come back to the movie theatres to see movies as they're really meant to be viewed.

I had the same experience when i watched the last jedi.A few of the viewers were interested of their phones, not the movie.

I went to a historic theater and even at a 1940s movie - same thing... Constant rings, beeps, lights, or chit-chat... It's not the way I watch movies - I need to hear every word, and I think it's frustrating that I think more about society than the movie itself, so I have no desire to go to a theater, and prefer watching it at home, since I can pause it once or twice to take a leak. And many other reasons.

the main reason we don't go to movie theaters anymore
