CBS All access

Are many people signed up for this?

reply

CBS hasn't publicly released the numbers, only that they are happy with the rate of growth. I've seen unconfirmed reports that it's at about 3 million. I'm not one of them.

reply

Me either. It's enough that my cable bill reflects the retransmission fees that my cable provider pays them for carrying any CBS program, but I'm going to pay for more for what amounts to typical network fare on top of that???

The old adage that a fool and his money are soon parted remains true.

If I could pick my cable channels a 'la carte, I wouldn't even have basic CBS on my lineup.

reply

I tried it but they lied about the non-commercial account.
Can you believe that ... the non-commercial account has commercials.
What kind of fraud is that?

reply

I've used it because I like Big Brother and will watch the feeds if it's good. Not bad but has too many commercials... probably more than hulu. Netflix has the best interface among all of the streaming services that I've encountered.

I think the key is to use one or two of the services at a time... watch what you want... cancel, and then come back later. The problem is that many people will sign up... forget about it like a gym membership and then it gets wasteful. I know how to pirate but I like to support shows that I like. If everyone steals, they will just keep cancelling shows and making more cheap reality programs.

reply

I currently subscribe to four streaming services - a few too many I think

reply

Ideally you'd cancel all cable and only have a broadband connection... then you are saving money. However, this is difficult for those who like sports. At least for now... I think Hulu is carrying sports now, although it remains to be seen if they get all the major sports franchises.

reply

I need my sports so I will never part with cable.

reply

not available in Canada till next year

No I don't think so. I'm certainly not. I use Netflix for streaming, and I don't have the time to watch all the shows I would like to watch. Therefore I do not need CBS All Access. I also detest them because they're part of the biased, lying main stream media.

I was before STD. I was disappointed with the content, quality of service and commercials. If you still have cable there is no reason to get the service for the few exclusives it has. Even if you don’t have cable unless you are big on incomplete CBS offerings you are probably better off with other services.
