Is all these apologies and accusations all a fluke for the real big secret?

Kevin Spacey and Dustin Hoffman could just be lying and working with others to hide the real pedophiles in Hollywood. How can we 100% trust that their words are truth?

What are you, 5 years old?

Is all?

I'm sorry. That was insensitive.

What is you, 5 years old?

You know, percentage wise, I don't imagine there's really THAT many pedophiles in Hollywood. Surely there's some...as there are in every city and in every profession...but they're such a tiny percentage of the population I just don't think they're all grouped together like that.

except for Hollyweird of course

Yeah i kind of agree. The "scandal" is that they cover it up, not necessarily that every second person in the Hollywood industry is a paedohphile.

I haven't read much on the Dustin Hoffman incident yet, but wasn't the sexual assault (or harassment?) on someone of legal age? Obviously still very bad but that wouldn't make him a paedophile.
Sort of the same situation with Kevin Spacey. Although the first person that came forward was a minor, the rest just seem to be sexual assault cases on young adults and not children (besides the 14 and 17 y/o). His actions are still disgusting, but i'm no expert so i have no idea whether he'd be classed as a paedophile or someone who attempted a paedophilic act.

She was 17, a minor still in high school, and interning on a TV film he made.

Dustin Hoffman isn't a pedophile (someone who is attracted to pre-pubescent children). (God, that would make KRAMER VS, KRAMER totally different.)

What makes the current topic of sexual harrasment so key is that it is WORKPLACE harrasment. It's looking at, in a broad sense, how all of these things are happening under the guise of business....auditions, interviews, on set behavior, etc.

If a producer or performer is being lewd with a date or a call girl/boy, for example, that is different than if they are being lewd with a coworker or potential employee. A performer could say "Well, having a call girl rub my feet while I talk dirty to her is my kink, on my own time, and its all consensual," but you can't say "I like to have high school interns rub my feet on the set and at business meetings while I talk dirty to them". It just becomes totally indefensible.

Sorry. I know that all of this is a serious subject, but your last sentence made me burst out laughing! I had this image of all of these suits around a long conference table with their shoes off.... all of these young girls down on their knees rubbing feet while these guys bow their heads whispering dirty nothings.....
I know. That is just the way my mind works sometimes. I shall leave this meeting quietly.....
Carry on.
