Films You Want To Watch, But Never Do...

What films have you been meaning to watch for a long time but still haven't watched them?
Films you've probably had on your watchlist for years.

I have a few:

Rear Window (1954)
12 Angry Men (1957)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Scarface (1983)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Fight Club (1999)
The Bone Collector (1999)
Zodiac (2007)
District 9 (2009)
Shutter Island (2010)
My Week with Marilyn (2011)
Django Unchained (2012)
The Way, Way Back (2013)
3 Days to Kill (2014)

reply

I've only seen about half of these myself. Of those, Django was my favorite.

reply

hmm I have seen all of these except the My Week with Marilyn and The Way, Way Back.

I have movies on my watch list on Netflix that I don't remember why I even put them on there :)
My Queue is at 450+ movies and the streaming is at over 100. I don't find as much stuff on Prime so that list is around 80.

reply

I have 600+ on my IMDb watchlist. It gets bigger constantly and i know i'm not even going to watch most of the things on it.

To be honest, i barely even look at my Netflix list but still add stuff to it all the time. I still have unwatched movies that i added to it years ago.
Saying that, i think i add stuff to my list accidentally quite a lot when i'm using the Netflix app.

reply

Every time I come across something that peaks my interest i throw it on the list, however I have been doing that for years so when I look at the list I am like, where did that come from? Between similar movies recommended on imdb, previews on DVD, upcoming movies news on websites I am constantly adding things.

It took me forever to watch The Departed and I have yet to watch Inception. I also didn't like the Wolf of Wall Street. I think subconsciously I have something against Leonardo Dicaprio. I used to love his stuff. I did end up liking the Departed though. I have seen almost all the movies on your list.

reply

Oh, The Departed is another one of mine.
Inception is good but it's one you need to really concentrate on. Definitely worth a watch though!

Not a huge fan of Wolf of Wall Street. It was ok. I just felt that it dragged a little too much, it took me like 2 days to finish watching it, i just couldn't bare sitting for 3 hours watching it in one go.

I'll definitely need to watch The Departed soon though!

reply

I did like the departed after being bugged to watch it forever. i think i like my choice of movie to watch to be my own sometimes and the more someone tells me to watch something, the longer it gets bumped to the bottom of the list. haha But with Jack Nicholson, that just adds to the departed to being a good movie.
I thought Wolf of Wall Street was sexist, and I don't care if it was based on actual people or whatever......just my opinion. I hated it.

reply

Totally agree about getting told to watch a certain movie - it takes me much longer to watch if i'm being told to watch it. Same with receiving a DVD as a gift. I love DVDs, but i'd prefer to get them myself, otherwise it will probably go unwatched for a very long time. I think that's actually the reason I've still not watched Django Unchained - I received the DVD as a gift but still haven't got around to watching it.

I'm always in different moods for different genres. Usually really specific sub-genres too!

reply

You sound similar to me. haha. I'm not sure the reason. We just value our own opinions most? Just kidding :)

The Departed was far superior to Wolf of Wall Street. I highly recommend the former; could take or leave the latter.

reply

Wolf of WS is good for the Margot Robbie nude scene.

Firestarter 2 rekindled, I think the runtime puts me off.

Most of those are great to watch... Fun and/or thrilling movies... Should be able to get through a lot of them if you watch one or two a week along with your regular current movie viewing... Do it, I've seen most of those in cinema, you're in for a treat!

I use my Apple TV/Netflix wish lists to keep track and try to watch one older movie from the list every week... I've also bought a stack of blu rays of movies i want to watch and I'm working my way through them.... the list and the stack contents are gradually changing over time as I watch and add movies... Easy access is key

Some examples from the current stack/list...

- The Conformist
- Metropolis
- Pans Labyrinth
- Rust & Bone
- L'Avventura

reply

I watched Pan's Labyrinth... It was pretty good 👍

reply

Don't bother with Assassin's Creed.

reply

I caught Assassin's Creed on HBO the other day. Never played the games, but I found it somewhat mediocre at best.

reply

Ive seen most of them
Some real winners there
Zodiac was amazing...do that first!

reply

Bambi
West Side Story
The Sound of Music.....

There are more, but those are the ones that I am ashamed to confess to at the moment.

reply

Just a lot of Golden Age films, some past award contenders, and some foreign features in general. I don't always have the free time to watch the movies that even piqued my interest.

Of your list I did however saw 12 Angry Men, Scarface, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, District 9, My Week with Marilyn, and Django Unchained.

reply

To Kill A Mockingbird

I always mean to read the book as well.
