Why so many dark topics?

I haven't been on MC for a little bit.. reasons not my own but my laptop's fault. I'm just wondering why so many topics about death?
Just a little curious...

reply

in a way i'm fascinated by death...

reply

I think everyone is to a degree. I don't want to die though, too much life left to live. I've been with someone when they passed though, and although sad it was beautiful at the same time and the energy was unreal.

reply

"It is the cruelty of life that we are swiftly taken away...we age,we decay,we die.But what do we leave behind...bones?dust?...what about the soul...does it endure beyond our human existence? I believe it does."

reply

Who are you quoting?

reply

Ooh sorry...sir Richard Croft...rise of the tomb raider...i thought it was an apropriate qoute for this subject...didn't meant to offend.

reply

Oh no, I was just wondering who you were quoting. You totally didn't offend me. I think it is a very fitting quote for this topic as well. Thanks for sharing. :)

reply

My favorite quote from a videogame:

"You cannot escape death." - Geese Howard (Fatal Fury, 1991)

reply

A quotation from a video game? Really? What's next? Quotes from the Home Shopping Network?

reply

I hope the soul does endure beyond our human existence. I don't think this is something many people believe anymore though. At least the ones I know.

reply

I am one of those few people.

reply

You do believe you mean?

reply

I believe that our soul endures beyond our existence,yes....sorry sometimes it's hard to express myself...

reply

No, I understand. I believe this too. I at least hope.

reply

I hate death. It's okay for fiction but real life is not.

reply

"Death is a part of life.We aren't meant to live forever."

reply

Yeah I know death is part of life but that still doesn't make me like it anymore. I get attached to certain people and it hurts me when they die. I'm even like that with the Sims I created.

reply

It's been weird here since Friday the 13th...😱

reply

and will continue to be until Halloween I suppose. That thought never even crossed my mind. Halloween and death come pretty close together I guess. My Friday the 13th was actually bad this year, and I always say that its GOOD luck. Oh well. haha

reply

I'd like to think that all of this talk of death is just because it is Halloween time.
Soon we people here in the US can all be thinking of what we are thankful for in November.
I am trying hard not to think too far ahead to December, but the holidays may just bring up cheerier discussions....
Holiday movies? How we celebrate? Decking the Halls? All of that fallderall!

I'll have to look at them again.
At the moment, I'm watching Urban Legend on Crackle. I have seen it before, but I forgot how much fun the psycho is in that one.
I like Natalie Wood's daughter, Courtney, in the first part of the movie. She looks so much like her mother did in Inside Daisy Clover.
I'll get back to you on any of the good ones on Netflix.

reply

Yes, do suggest some random horror movies. I'm trying to get a friend of mine to have a marathon with me. :D`

reply

Some of my favorite Horror/Halloween movies are ones that I already have...
Funny?
Young Frankenstein
Love at First Bite
Motel Hell

Something fun but nice for October?
Something Wicked This Way Comes

Classic horror?
The Innocents
The Haunting
Whatever Happened To Baby Jane
Straitjacket
Let's Scare Jessica to Death
Die die My Darling
Night of the Living Dead.

Slasher types?
The Fun house
Urban Legend
Joy Ride 1 and 2

Rosemary's Baby
The Stepford Wives the original.
I like Ira Levin.

That is just a handful of suggestions.

reply

I agree with you on the Ira Levin thing. I also love both of those movies. I so need to do a movie marathon before Halloween. I think I said this already. LOL.

I can't place "Let's scare Jessica to death", but I feel like I already saw it. I've probably seen about half of your list, and thanks for the suggestions. :)

reply

Hi Dazed!
I did list a handful of Halloween movie recommendations to Daisy, but you asked about ones on Netflix. There are so many to choose from, as you know.
There is one that I find so bad, it's good! It's called, Would You Rather.
Try that on for size and let me know what you think. It's a bit gory, but compelling....
Or maybe I just think so because I have a twisted mind!
There is always The Shining and I see that Netflix has Young Frankenstein!
Housebound looks interesting. I haven't seen it yet, but I think I want to!

reply

Yeah exactly. It scares me how close we are to xmas, but I've started picking little things up already. Yeah, I just didn't clue in to what holiday is coming close. (Not sure to call it a holiday, but some people call it their favorite. ;)

reply

Oh, do you mean Thanksgiving? We don't have a big to do. We have a few of our single friends come for THE FEAST. Of course, we are all thankful for our FOOTBALL! LOL!

I have bought a few gifts and a number of stocking stuffers from the $ Tree. I enjoy getting that head start. My husband mostly shops on line. it makes it nice for me because I am far more into Decking the Halls when it comes to the Christmas holidays. I get very sentimental when it comes to the decorations.

reply

I actually meant Halloween, we here in Canada already had our Thanksgiving. :)

I bought some presents today too, I'm quite proud of my procrastinating self.

reply

It's that time of the year I supposed and with Halloween on the way too.

Awww, aren't you sweet. I'm sure you missed me very much. ;)
It felt like I hadn't signed in in forever, but I was on every day for awhile so that must be why. I think it was nearly two weeks since I had signed in.
Did I miss much?

reply

Yes, ten long days. haha. Now you're making me think of that Keisha song "Tik Toc".

Yeah, didn't look like anyone was playing many games while I wasn't here either. What a shame.
Glad I didn't miss much. :)

reply

Or stupid topics? It was like an explosion or something.

reply

Like this one? Haha ;)

reply

No this one is fine. I was kind of thinking the same way. The overall mood around here got darker. At first it was idle chit chat, then it turned to stupid parody threads and now these darker toned topics.

reply

I probably wouldn't even recognize a parody thread. Haha.
I guess though with Halloween around the corner....🎃

reply

Theyre ALL nuts here i tells ya'
Nuts i say!!!
Run:o

reply

I'll run away but I'll always come back. Haha ;)

reply

Good for you!
Winners never quit...

reply

Not just dark topics, but also formerly pleasant people showing what assholes they are.
