I Need Help! This Is For The Technological Savvy People Here

My phone is the Moto X Pure Edition. The Proximity Sensor works when put to my ear. If I'm on hold with the atrocious hold music I put the phone on Speaker and wait for a live response. So far so good. My problem is as follows: If the hold time is too long my screen goes to blank and I'm unable to get back the display with the dial pad including the spkr, mic icons. Therefore, when I do finally have a live person take the call I have to leave the blasted thing on spkr! Also, there are times when I need the dial pad to "choose option 1, 2, 3, or ....." Suggestions are very welcome.

I use a huwei p9 lite,never had problems with this device so far...great phone...if the holding time is long....i speak for my device...the second it takes some distance from my hears when i make a call ( i'm sorry for my english ),the screen authomatcally lights on...al the functions are working normally...your problem may be from the settings,or the phone itself.

Mine goes to sleep like that as well. You can go into your settings and lengthen the amount of time before it goes to sleep, but I can turn it back on so the screen displays by pressing the buttons on the sides of mine. How do you turn yours on? Just do that, and you'll get your screen back again :)

reply

If I press the side button the call is disconnected. I did increase to 30 min before it goes to sleep, but that drains the battery. Also, as we all know being on hold for over 30 min is becoming more frequent.

Can you press the volume up or down button to wake up the phone?

If not, you need to toggle the "use the power button to end calls" option in the settings. That way you can wake up your phone using the power button but not ending the call prematurely as well.

Thanks for the info. I have selected "use the power button....." I did that on a call last week resulting in a disconnect....a call that had me on hold for 15 min after choosing all the prompts. It was to Brother about this damn printer not printing black. To top it off I just recently installed new cartridges. Anyhow when I called back I had lost my queue in line plus the wait time had increased. I threw the phone down and ordered another printer.

Tomorrow I will attempt to duplicate the actions using my husband's phone as a phone to call.

Answer to your first question, no, the volume buttons won't wakey, wakey!😬

@actionkamen

Thank you! You solved my dilemma! I disabled "use the power button to end calls" option. I changed how long before sleep, called my husband's phone and remained connected, moved the phone from my ear which had the Proximity Sensor working, display opened, after 15 sec. the phone faded to black, pushed the pwr button, the phone awakened to the dial pad while still connected to the other phone.

Again...Thank you!🤗

Your welcome.

Hmm. Mine works the way ActionKamen describes. The side buttons just wake it up. Good suggestion about using the volume buttons to see if that'll wake it up. There's got to be some way.

I just Googled how to wake up your phone. Mine doesn't have this function, but yours does so this should make sense to you:

"Motorola Actions, or Moto Actions, are all gesture based controls that you can do to activate certain functions of the device. Some of these gestures include waving your hand over the front of the phone to wake up the display and see any notifications without having to touch the phone"
