Liam Neeson announces retirement from action movies

says he is too old - he had a good run

reply

It's about time.

How bad of a father can you be. I mean how many of your family can be kidnapped. Seriously.
I really can't stand when these "older" actors do action movies.

reply

I'm not much on action films in the first place, and whatever interest I had in LN waned with every new release, (although I did like The Grey). Really, really disliked Taken, other than as a one-time diversion. I hate that Bourne-style fight film technique, like little bits of the scene have been edited out so everything seems sped up.

Looks like Ryan Gosling might be going down the same road. Although had he been typecast by Lars and the Real Girl, that might have been difficult too, haha.

reply

I'm not a huge action guy either. I don't watch many at all. I am also over buddy cob movies.
If I do watch action movies I prefer more like RocknRolla, Layer Cake, In Bruges, Luck Number Slevin.
These aren't the prototypical action movies. IMO.

I used to like Liam Neeson. I think the last one of his movies I saw was Taken. That might have been
enough for me.
Not a huge Gosling fan either. Although I have liked some of his movies.
If he does go down the action road he'll be set in Hollywood for the next 40 years.

reply

Just by accident I saw part of a Jason Statham film - I think it was the first Transporter, but maybe not.
But it seemed to have a sense of humor, kind of like In Bruges, so I wouldn't mind seeing that in full sometime.
But I'm extremely tired of gun-play in films these days. It seems like it's normalized and we should all be packing heat and ready for the worst, and I really believe this isn't true.

reply

I remember a Statham film that I liked. Maybe the only I've seen to be honest.
I think it was Crank. He couldn't let his heart rate go below a certain amount or he would die.
So the whole movie was non stop. It was unique and some good humor.

There's been no let up in these kind of films. I wonder how much longer they keep going.
In 20,30,50 years will they still be making these movies and will people still be going to see them.
Somehow I think the answer is yes.

reply

Yes, I think you are right about Crank. I think I saw it playing in some bar, and it seemed funny, so I liked that aspect of it. But now, when I see his name attached to a film -- I just move on.

And (sarcasm alert) how 'bout that Morgan Freeman? Can't get enough of that guy ! He's everywhere ! That voice, that stature ! Heck, every movie and commercial should have Morgan MF Freeman in it. Never get tired of seeing THAT guy. (sarcasm alert over)
(Look, I don't dislike Mr Freeman, but he's been over-used lately, and his voice is so easily recognized that I'm tired of how Big Media exploits it. I'm glad he's had a successful career -- but it grates on me.)

reply

I hear you.
I'm about tired of Matthew Mcconaughey and Sam Jackson and seeing those commercials all the time.
How much money do you really need ?

reply

Lars and the Real Girl, what an odd movie. haha. Typecast from that yes, not sure what kind of roles he would have gotten haha

reply

hahahahahahaha....

how many awful movies can one make? lol.

reply

I'm not sure but Stallone might know the answer.

reply

Cop Land wasn't a bad movie, imo.

reply

Stallone has had some great movies.
He's also had and exorbitant amount of bad ones. Not just action movies.

reply

This comment is hilarious. haha. He was a very bad father apparently. ;) And I def agree that it's about time.

reply

No more Taken....oh well

The moderator deleted his message. For some reason that is funny.

Will you ever admit that you're trolling?

reply

Oh come on,Dazed...you know that is not my styleπŸ˜‰

reply

^King of trolls.

I've learned from the best...the subtle thing,i mean...he made a mistake and delete it after that....i thought i said something wrongπŸ€”

reply

This is so funny. Welcome to my world....😝

reply

Your world...now that's funnyπŸ˜‰

reply

He made a mistake; you deliberately said nasty things and outright lies, and starting crying like the baby you are when you got backlash. Not even close to the same worlds. Only thing funny about you is that you think people can't see through your fake sincerity.

reply

You tell 'm, Croft! You didn't do nothing wrong! Lol
The mod was mistaken.

reply

I never do,Barclays...but many times,the internet is a...tricky placeπŸ˜‰

reply

It's just this place. Last night I was harassed in pm by a psycho who kept pressuring me to post a screenshot of the message I received on Reddit. He kept making things up along the way and acting as if he spoke for everyone else when the only two people asking for a screenshot were naps and him. Honestly I think he was Naps using a sock account.

Things like this go on here and Jim allows it. At this rate, this place will follow imdbs fate.
I heard that people were harassed there too.

It was nice talking to you Croft but I have to go reply to another user who keeps pressuring me to discuss how IT could have been better. I really don't feel like having that discussion but I don't wanna be rude by ignoring him.

reply

Nope. Lying again, "barclays." Seems to be the norm for you. Never used a sock and never will. If anyone uses socks, it's you. And I never asked for a screen shot; I asked for a cut and paste. See, you have to keep your lies straight for people to believe them. Trust me, I have far better things to do than PM someone like you. Somehow I doubt you were PM'd by anyone; just another sympathy-seeking ploy by you.

"Things like this go on here and Jim allows it."

True; like you wishing people dead and saying it's no big deal. Or calling someone petty. Or saying someone doesn't belong here. Or lying about what other posters do/say in an effort to make yourself a blameless victim.

"At this rate, this place will follow imdbs fate"

If you believe that, why don't you leave?

"I don't wanna be rude by ignoring him."

Why not, "barclays?" You have no trouble being rude to a number of people here.

reply

Kids...please,play nice with eachother...

reply

Croft, I think you're a cool dude, but if you want to be nice to an obvious troll, that's on you. I don't have to be nice to something who wishes people dead and lies constantly to get sympathy.

reply

I'm not nice only with her,napsdufroid...i am nice with everyone,no exceptions...this is who i am.

reply

Or maybe he wished death on someone like "barclays" did

reply

That deleted reply of mod5 was for me,napsdufroid

reply

I know; saw it below. Was just making a point that a certain poster's death wish isn't going to be forgotten as easily as it thinks..

reply

Never is...

I think Jackie Chan already replaced Liam Neeson with his new Taken-esque movie The Foreigner.

reply

ADULTS ONLY:

Neeson is rummored to be....enormously.....gifted, ifyaknowwhatimsayin.

So, I hope he makes at least one more "action" film. #fingerscrossed
.

reply

Nah, he's taken.

reply

I'd still like to see the action film!

(Who did he settle down with after Natasha Richardson died, BTW?)
.

reply

Who knows... maybe he's been
with some Widows. It's Unknown. For all I know, he has Taken the vow of Silence about this. He used to Run All Night from tabloid journalists Non-Stop. Now he can take A Walk Among Tombstones in peace, or maybe take The Commuter train.

reply

[deleted]

That's the word on the street...

(though I'm looking back at my OP and thinking, "Now, was that REALLY necessary?") (But, I do love gossip!)
.

reply

[deleted]

You mean Michael Fassbender, who played as the character David in Alien: Covenant?

Yes, he has a big D. Saw it in Shame (2011). Great movie too.

reply

[deleted]

No, but some may think so. It's open to audiences' interpretation. None were shown in the movie itself.

reply

Cookie how did I know you would be involved with this.

Talking about Liam "the tripod" Neeson like that.

reply

[deleted]

Ha!
Jealous much ?

Maybe you can catch him and have some bubble and squeak or black pudding.
He'd pay of course. Maybe he is on your "list". If he wasn't maybe he should be.

reply

Well, he already run all night.

reply

[deleted]

Probably for the best. The last one was a little strained

reply

Oh come on...at least another Taken...

reply

Would you waste your money to see that?. Sorry. IMO, the Taken franchise needs to be buried really deep so it can never come back.

reply

Waste money,napsdufroid...no.If i want to see a movie,i'll bring it from the net,it's free...and i got a reply from moderator5...did i say something wrong?πŸ€”

reply

Not at all. I posted by accident and then deleted the message.

reply

Copy that...

reply

Neeson's newest movieThe Commuter (2018) is kinda like Taken but in a train. More of a mystery / thriller than an action flick though.

reply

I don't see any problem with that.

reply

It's about time. Dude is 65!

I think he said he was mostly doing them for the money anyways. Which is probably pretty obvious. I watched an interview with him a little while back and he said he was soon to be done making movies like this, and pretty much said it was for the money. I'm glad, because he was beginning to be an actor I found annoying and wasn't a fan of when I know he can act because I've seen him in better roles. I hope he goes back to more dramatic roles. Maybe it says that in the article I haven't read it yet.
