Twin movie phenomena: Near identical movies that were produced independently around the same time

Hi all!

The Prestige (2006) and The Illusionist (2006) are two movies that always left me confused. It always felt like one is the extension of the other or vice-versa. I had this thought of researching twin movies long time ago, and while researching the subject came across number of triplet movie examples. I've listed the most interesting examples and summarised the how/ why twin movies happen in an article (https://go2cinema.com/stories/twin-movie-phenomena-5)

Hope you find this as interesting as I did.

and I have created this awesome illustration for it (https://go2cinema.com/images/stories/20.jpg?width=640). I am really proud of it, what do you think?

What movies did you find to be too similar?

How about the same movie, shot by two different directors?

I wanted to watch them consecutively but never got around to seeing either one.

Get out (2017) and A Cure For Wellness (2017), now hear me out they have a very different art directions and styles but the soul story lines are incredibly similar, even down to the main characters car to crash into a deer so they have to remain at the brainwashing/swapping facility where the people want to use their youth to stay young.

The first three sets of twin movies had always astonished me by their timing and coincidences:
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) and Lincoln (2012)- With both movies being about Lincoln, though one of them is just clearly a weird horror movie featuring Lincoln.

Madagascar (2005) and The Wild (2006)- Are animated movies about zoo animals escaping to Africa from NYC. Though Madagascar was the better film.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) and Shaun of the Dead (2004)- Two zombie apocalypse movies. One being a remake of the original film, while the other one is somewhat a parody.

Others:
Goodfellas (1990) and The Godfather III (1990)- They could count since both are mafia films with Oscar nominations, even though The Godfather was only on its third installment.

Scream (1996) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)- both being teen slasher films with satire. I always liked Scream a lot more between the two.

I think we may have new pair of twins...

Atomic Blonde and Red Sparrow.

The only twins I can think of are oldies:

Jezebel, 1938
Gone with the Wind, 1939

The reason those movies are similar is because one inspired the other and sometimes Hollywood tries to follow a formula or trend.
