Early critically acclaimed movies bashed by IMDb users early?

I see Downsizing, mother!, Battle of the Sexes getting bashed pretty hard. People are complaining that mother! is a plagiarist work off of Rosemary's Baby. Aronofsky is very known for taking other works and making his, but I don't think he is really plagiarizing. Black Swan is a great adaptation of Perfect Blue and even does things better than Perfect Blue. Requiem for a Dream did recreate a scene in Perfect Blue, but the rest of the film is too different for it to be called a copycat. Downsizing is a mystery, I have no idea why it's getting bashed. Battle of the Sexes is getting bashed by conservatives of course because it is another film about female empowerment.
