Movie Chat?

They should call this site the General Discussion Chat, nobody has talked about movies or TV shows for months, there has to be a better site than this one, does anyone know of one?

reply

check the Trending Bar

What do you mean? Just from the first page of this General Discussions board there're at least 6 topics started that are about movies. Reply to those if you want a discussion about movies instead of creating yet another thread not about movies. Smh.

reply

thank you

reply

Or better yet, just change the first message board to ONLY topics on movie/t.v. related items. The general discussion can go hide in the archives under "other".

reply

There are boards for all the movies, shows and actors just like imdb. The trending area on the main page shows the ones that have had recent posts, and how recent. Search bar for the rest.

reply

trending area, all posts about old TV and movies nobody cares about anymore that were started 2-4 and 6 months ago with a couple of new replies, if you go to NCIS the last post was a week ago, the post before that was a month ago and the one before that was 2 months ago, all the TV shows are like that, and most movies,

He did not mean that. Please stay!

It's still a fairly small user base, especially compared to imdb. We are growing, though.

You know how long that excuse has been used for? The General Discussion board is like a fat kid. Imagine a kid with a fat stomach, thin arms and legs. No one goes to any other board because there is no means to direct them that way. The only way it would happen is if we have rotating message boards or that the first board people see are the t.v./film message board. I see t.v./film message board because it relates to the site. It could really be any other board except general discussion.

Make people work to get to where they want on this site. People are WAYY to lazy and they start a mess of unrelated topics on this general discussion board. You really think people are capable of searching for what they want, getting to that board and putting up a thread when no one responds?

Not to mention the tomb raider and resident evil boards...

What? No, the trending area is continually changing as people post on whatever boards. For the past few weeks I've seen GoT on there a lot, along with many other new shows or new film releases.

But if you don't like it here anymore, oh well.

reply

[deleted]

Oh. I figured someone with 400+ posts would have been.

reply

People also tend to forget that long gaps between posts on a given thread happened all the time on imdb. People would pick up a thread that was started years earlier and run with it, regardless of whether that thread's original poster(s) participated or not. MC peoples should do the same!

reply

Very true! It's the same thing here as it was there, but on a smaller scale. Big blockbuster films get a lot of activity for the first 6 or so months after they're released, likewise big popular shows while they're airing. The rest can and often do have long gaps, unless mini communities have formed on their boards.

Thread with 22 replies pretty evenly spaced between its creation 6 years ago and the last post 7 months ago.

reply

Excellent example. And I noticed person A posted a reply 5 years ago. 3 years later a person B replied to person A's post. Afterwards person A came back and responded!

The same thing will happen here, in time.

Oh and if you're interested in discussing on a dead board, just post. It'll bump into trending and someone else interested might see it.

reply

Only problem is, it does not work for message boards that are not for movies. Remember, there are still "politics", "food", etc.

reply

Have you tried using Double U double U double U dot GOOGLE dot com? I hear it's really use full!

About 5 months ago you posted how to delete your account. need to find a more decent site.

5 months later you're still here asking if there is a better site.

Maybe that is your answer.

There are people who will fight fight FIGHT to instill change and there are ones that will leave. There should be NO problem if people want to instill change. If Jim comes on here one of these days and says that NO CHANGE WILL BE MADE ABOUT THE CURRENT LAYOUT OF MOVIECHAT, then and only then will I and some back down in trying to make it more movie/t.v. related.
