Buffalo '66 -- on 8/12 on INDIE!
On tonight,
9pm - INDIE - Buffalo '66 (10/10)
Love this movie.
shareThat's great! Did anyone else watch it? Anyone else a fan of this movie and like to talk about it? Analysis, questions, etc?
shareIt has been awhile since I watched it.
I loved Ricci's performance. It was as basic as you could ask for and it was perfect for this character.
It had to be to offset Gallo's character.
The family scenes were brilliant and perfectly cast. You got a real feel of why Billy was the way he was.
This movie shows what Gallo is capable of.
Did you see his second movie? Not good at all :(
His third one was only released to a film festival...
I really wanted to like it but just didn't happen for me.
I think this sounded good on paper or in his mind but didn't transfer well to the big screen.
He's a good actor and can be a good director.
He's a little eccentric.
Did you ever get to see it? I know I've looked for it.
I didn't see "Promises in Water"... I thought he had a very natural role in the movie.
I don't really see anything eccentric about him though. Maybe self-publicity once in a while... You should see him on Howard Stern, there's some funny stuff.
He just seems a little out there. I've read some interviews . He likes to throw people under the bus.
He's reportedly hard to work with. He's never said anything good about the people he works with.
If fact the opposite. He usually calls them drunks and puppets and they have no talent.
He also loves to talk about different groups of people.
Self publicity is an interesting way of looking at it.
Selling your services for 50 grand a night and selling your sperm.
I like him. I just think he is a little out there.
i have a grudging admiration for the brown bunny. it's certainly not a crowd pleaser like buffalo 66, and it's definitely not a film i'll every casually throw on, but if i'm in the right frame of mind i kinda like going on its meandering, senseless ride.
I loved Ben Gazzara in this.
sharei absolutely love it. one of my favourites. the bar scene at the end with heart of the sunrise playing is one of my favourite cinematic moments.
i like ricci's tap routine in the bowling alley as well. i kinda fell in love with her at that moment, i guess.
it's streaming on tubitv, so it's there for all to see for free - at least in canada.

i always find it amusing when billy freaks out on goon towards the end of the film - his 'do you know why we call you goon?' speech.
i got temporarily banned from twitter for quoting that dialogue last year.
I watched this for the first time a few months ago and was surprised how good it was.
shareOn subject, sorta... Have you seen Killer Joe?
If not, DO. It's directed by William Freidkin, the director of Exorcist. Written for the stage by the same guy who wrote August Osage County and Bug (August is a GREAT movie and Bug is cool).
The dialogue and interactions in Killer Joe are almost hypnotic. It's such a great movie/play/story.
yes, i've seen killer joe a few times over the years including a watch within the last 2 months, & really really like it. white trash heaven. i like bug quite a bit too, though i haven't seen it quite so many times.
august... i haven't seen at all. i guess i just dismissed it because it has roberts & streep & in my mind i wrote it off as the kind of thing i never, ever want to watch. but seeing that it has that bug/killer joe pedigree definitely moves it into the 'give it a chance' territory.
thanks!
I can like a good family drama, but I was unsure about August... I saw it due to the writer only. I was quite surprised at how entertaining it turned out. Its not exactly what it looks like, and the performances are awesome. I dont usually care for Julia but IMO it's her best role.
