Guys,if the words or the way I said that words that I've written in my previous posts offended you in any way,I honestly apologize to you.It wasn't my intention to upsate any of you...Many times the language barrier can be tricky and I write in english what I think in my native language...this leads to many misunderstantigs.
Tell me about it. I've also been attacked several times because I translated phrases that are perfectly normal in my language into english, but in english they apparently don't make sense. lol
Well,Apis...if I offended you in any way in the past...maybe without intention,i'm sorry.I have been called a "troll" twice already, only for the mistranslations😏
You're right,Apis...the same thing told me mod 2 a while ago...I use emoji to point that a post that I make should be considered as a joke...but,many times, people considered this as an ofence to them.
Speaking for myself, I’ve never taken anything that you posted in a negative way, croft_alice, but I also understood that you were from Eastern Europe, and that English wasn’t your first language. Usually no one has to tell me though, I can tell pretty easily by the way that non-English speakers phrase certain sentences.
I’ve also noticed that non-English speakers will often times use emoji’s at inappropriate times, and that it can come off as being a wise guy 😀 Actually, when I see this, my first assumption is that the person is a non-English speaker, and not a troll. But I’m also an exceptionally understanding dude 😉
Much appreciated,wanton87....but earlier today I said something to another member that was meant to be a joke...that member end up by really be mad on me and call me a troll. My intention is not to upsate anyone here, but sometimes my words are misunderstood.
You have always made yourself understood to me. you have been around here for quite a while. your posts are always fairly positive. I have a hard time understanding why anyone would call you a troll.
Try not to let it bother you too much. You're a good guy!
I was surprised too. I just found out the other day while reading something someone said.
I'm not sure of why I always thought of him as a woman, but I always have. Maybe it's the alice part of the name......
Then again, there's Alice Cooper! LOL!
Well,MissMargo...I said something to Dazed earlier this day that was meant to be a joke, but she misunderstood my words, get mad at me and call me a troll.
That's too bad. I understand about language changing it's meaning in translation. that is one thing.
Another thing is the internet. Sometimes you can write something jokingly and people don't always understand that you were just joking about something. That is why I usually add a lol when I am joking. I prefer emoticons!
I haven't always gotten jokes in the past either, and I have been offended more than once in the past. It's not always easy to tell if someone is kidding around when you can't see them.
Dazed strikes me as an intelligent person. It must have been a misunderstanding.
But you on the other hand ARE a mean person.
In this instance you don't have a clue what you're talking about but I do appreciate that stirring shit is what gets you through the day.
Have fun.
I think making a couple of threads directed at Alice to try to provoke him was fairly mean, but it's just words you're right.
I call it mean you call it unfriendly.
That's your imagination. I didn't direct any threads towards Alice. They were just two threads about subjects that were mentioned: gaming and Resident Evil. That's the only correlation.
Get it straight.
I don't like them, but I do find true crime stories about serial killers fascinating. My husband sometimes watches those true crime documentaries on YouTube. They are interesting to watch.
I don't watch them on youtube,MissMargo. There are docummentaries on tv ( I also like history and archeology very much )...in a way...don't want to offend anyone ...I like their MO.Criminal minds is a interesting tv show.
We stream much of what we watch since we don't have cable. We do have an antenna on our roof. We get about 15 channels.I rarely watch regular tv other than news and news shows and things on PBS (Public Television).
You haven't offended me.
I love history too. I enjoy documentaries on WW2. I also enjoy US history like the Civil War, Viet Nam, the JFK assassination, People throughout history....
As for criminals, I found Leopold and Loeb really interesting. They were two young men from Chicago. In the 1920's they murdered a young boy for the thrill of it. It is a famous case. Clarence Darrow defended them. Have you ever heard of the case?
Yes, MissMargo...as the matter a fact there was a docummentary about them on a tv channel...two teenagers killed a young kidd only to see what it feels like...odd,but it was many weeks ago,I don't remember what happened to them...anyway,I also receive tv by satellite, but we receive,I think...100 channels plus.
There are a few movies that are based on that case. I have two favorites that I highly recommend.
One is an Alfred Hitchcock film called Rope. Very good if you like Hitchcock film. It's very loosely based on Leopold and Loeb.
The other film is a very good one made in the early 60's. It's called Compulsion. It is very closely based on the case. The names are changed. Orson Welles plays the Clarence Darrow character. Much of Darrow's closing speech of the trial is included in the script. You might enjoy that movie. It's on Netflix.
We must have seen the same documentary, I'm sure.
There are two that I know of and I have seen them both. Very interesting case. They were sentenced to life. Loeb was murdered by an inmate while in prison. Leopold was released in the 1950's and actually lived a quiet life doing research and good works until his death.
Thank you for recommandations,MissMargo...I hope I write it correctly...I will check them out...I return I also have a recommandstion for you : the iceman ( 2013),have you seen it?
No I haven't seen the Iceman, but I will look for it. Thank YOU!
It's been great chatting with you. I could sit here most of the day, but I have some work to attend to, so I'll see you around soon. Bye for now.
Okay, I get it now. I knew where the Croft came from, but I couldn’t figure out the “Alice” part of the name. I don’t follow these particular franchise’s so forgive me.
And...what did Lara did to you,if won't speak to me anymore😂😂😂
I think you're doing a great job, croft! Besides English (I'm a Yank) I only speak a bit of German and Spanish, usually only enough to get myself into trouble. I would certainly not be able to communicate on these boards in any language other than English.
No. I believe you misunderstood me. I was complimenting you on your excellent English. Your English is much better than my Romanian, which is sadly non-existent.
Well, from what I've seen in movies, Romanian sounds just like English just with some heavy accents. The funny thing is that every language from Eastern Europe are apparently the same!
