I hate that some/most people use "social media" as a singular noun.

It's plural! Media is the plural form of medium, thus social media collectively refers to every social medium available.

It's a minor gripe =)

Oh I hope you didn't take that personally!

I just wanted to show off my understanding of the term ;)

I don't think you even referred to the term in a singular fashion, but I did see that happen in one of the early replies.

IMO, Facebook is one of the biggest wastes of time on the planet. Yeah, it has a few good points, but 95% of it is pointless crap. I really don't care about every aspect of someone's life, a pic of what you had for lunch, knowing where someone is/what they're doing every 10 minutes, 4,000 uses for an empty soda bottle, recipes most of us will never actually make, etc.

Phones and Ipads are another story. Beyond those who have them grafted to their hands and act as if they don't see/respond to any text or call instantly the earth will explode, you have those dimwits who will text back and forth for a half-hour to decide something a 2-minute phone call would accomplish. Even worse is when you go to a concert or similar event and see people "filming" it by watching the entire thing through their phone/tablet. I once tapped someone on the shoulder at a concert and said something like, "I don't know if you realize it, but if you look up from your phone, you can actually see the concert live right in front of you." Naturally I got looked at as if I had 3 heads.

Haha agree with you! Really don't get when people text when we have tech so advanced that you can even video chat these days. Texting is pretty annoying for the most part. And a bit rude. Since someone can pretend they did not get your text and respond the next day. But a phone call you gotta answer right away.

I feel like people hate to talk to people and texting is enabling the rudeness and taking away the courtesy of a phone call. For example it's only too easy to send rejection letter though email/text. But only the best companies actually call you. That is if they even contact you at all.

OK, serious question: why would you rather waste more time texting when a very short actual conversation could accomplish the same thing in a fraction of the time?
