In the word of Kanye West on a well known youtube video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFbQ1pqL9s4

X-men didn't launch her career. I saw her in Winter's Bone in 2010 and she got nominated for an oscar for that.

That movie was something else!! I watched it 2 or 3 times and can't decide if I like it or not. Well... I guess I liked it if I watched it 2 or 3 times right LOL?

reply

I liked it!

I think, in all honesty, what I didn't like about it was just the lifestyle itself that was portrayed. The acting was great. I just don't care for the gutter trash, hillbilly way of life that the movie was based in. But still, there was something about it that made me watch it more than once.

reply

I don't like that lifestyle either but the movie kind of shows that some people choose it and some people are just born into it and it's hard to get out. It showed good people and bad, they weren't all trash (but some certainly were!). I think that applies to any kind of 'underclass' group. Homeless, people living in housing projects, etc. There are some criminals and addicts but there are also a lot of decent people who are doing their best to survive. They don't want to be there either, but they do what they have to do.
Jennifer's character was smart, hard working, and resourceful, despite not having a great education or upbringing.

No one should touch someone else's dog without asking permission from the human first. Not all dogs are friendly to strangers, and small dogs like hers are often nervous and scared, less confident, and they might nip when they are scared. (people are always scared of big dogs but they are usually more mellow and self confident and not as nippy and excitable like the little dogs).
You know that if her tiny dog gave even a tiny nip to that photographer that didn't even break the skin, he would have made a federal case out of it and sued her for millions in damages. So I fully support her for telling him not to touch her dog without permission.

I love dogs, I love them more than people, so when I see a cute dog out and about I really really want to pet them all. But I ALWAYS ask the human first. It's just good manners. if you wouldn't touch someone's child, you shouldn't touch their dog.
Usually they say yes you can pet the dog. Occasionally they say no, usually because the dog is nervous around strangers. Since I do not want to make any scared dog more scared, I just admire the cuteness without petting those few.

I agree. I have no opinion about Jennifer Lawrence specifically or in general, but it's a very bad idea to approach or touch someone's dog without first getting a green light from the dog's person. Many dogs are very territorial, and/or haven't been property socialised.

Why are you carping about something that happened in January, little bennie? Had to search that far back to find something negative? I'm not a huge Jlaw fan, but IMO in that situation, the reporter was rude for looking at his phone.

reply

She was chosen by Hollywood as a new symbol of female empowerment. Since there is lax regulation on when females can act out and more pressure on males, who are most likely to be paparazzi; you can see why she is allowed to have a big ego. The only way this will totally ruin her reputation is by boycotting her movies and merchandise.
