If you haven't tried Supernatural, it's worth a try.

reply

Yes I enjoyed that too.I stopped watching around season 5,if memory serves there was a large gap between two halves of the season and I only got to see the first half.By the time part two was released on DVD I'd lost interest.
Grimm was also good and in a similar vein.

reply

Hi Dazed. We haven't met. Was it season 3 ? That's when there was a writer's strike and all shows were shortened.

reply

Hi,nice to meet you.
No I know I saw up to season 5,I do remember the writers strike you mention though.
For some reason S5 was also split into two,so if you're in the UK like I was you were in for a long long wait.

reply

I'm sorry too hear that . If you ever want to talk about what you liked or hated about the show, drop on by the board.

reply

I really hate when networks do this. There have been several shows that will stop in December.
Then they won't come back until March or April. By that time I can't remember what happened.
This is one of the main reasons I won't watch a series until it completely done. I record all of them
then watch them in a week or two. Problem with this by the time I watch it everybody has already
discussed it and moved on. I have stuck with Supernatural. There have been a few bumps in the road
but I believe it will go down as one of my all time favorites.

reply

Yes my problem is that even in a weekly show I need the "previously on" recap,so several months down the line I have no chance of remembering what happened!
I had an acquaintance who would binge rewatch the entire The Walking Dead back seasons just before a new season came out!
I kind of felt a bit sad about that, not sure why!
My son is into GoT and is eagerly waiting for that, doesn't seem to mind the wait though.

As I've got older I watch less and less tv preferring to watch the odd show now and then.

I did love the comedy in Supernatural, they did one where they were in different tv shows and movies which was really funny!
I think they did Horatio from CSI Miami.

reply

I've started saving the last episode I watched so I can watch it again to remember what happened.
So they sit on my DVR for a year or so. I can't imagine watching the whole series again before a new
season starts. Who has that kind of time? Seems like overkill to me.
When you're younger you can get away with waiting. :)

The comedy is one of the main reasons I stick with Supernatural. I don't think I could handle
15 seasons of nothing but monsters and demons.

reply

As I typed this I realized I had watched Friends countless times!
My tv habits have changed dramatically over recent years though.I'm definitely not judging anyone, its just that I'm less interested in watching tv in the way that I used to in the 80's.
I used to really enjoy tv dramas, soaps, reality but now I'm really selective. Possibly an age thing?

reply

Back in the day I too watched everything. I started becoming picky also.
I very rarely watch network TV. I do have quite a few series I try to keep on.
Most are all cable series so it's usually a short season. Not like when they would have 25-30 episodes
for a season. Less episodes and more series. Still a lot to try and keep up with.

reply

Supernatural has been on forever - I must admit I have never seen an episode

reply

Yes it has been on for awhile. It's hard too believe it's going into season 13

reply

looks like the X-Files ???

reply

Its not really like the x files at all.

reply

Kinda because Sam and Dean use fake badges at times. Like if they need to be an F.B.I. agent they will dress in nice suits so they can check the crime scene for clues only hunters would know to look for.

reply

I always felt that the x files took itself far too seriously, Supernatural has more natural humour.

reply

X files is more serious. I like the running gag on Supernatural when they flash their ID's they are the last names of musical artists. They had an episode this year where Castiel went by Beyonce. But Supernatural is the more natural humor of the two shows and it never seems out of place. With what the boys have been through it's much needed.

Hi Godewey. Nice to see your a fan of SPN. Did you start in 05? You should post on the SPN board after you're done with the season.

Lol. I hear ya about the demographic. I too was there from the start. Thanks to Smallville I probably wouldn't have given this show a chance.

reply

There was an episode of the X files which I remember giving me nightmares. It was about a family of inbreds who kept the "mother" on wheels under the floorboards and wheeled her out to breed with her.
It was quite sick.

It also really bothered me how skeptical Scully was despite everything she'd experienced!
It was great for a while and then became too clever for its own good!

reply

Um... that episode traumatised me as a child! For years I was scared that that "woman" would pop (or wheel) out from under my bed (it wasn't even the kind that you can roll under...).
