All the "In theaters" movies ...

Geez, there are so many bad movies. Looking through that list there is not a single one of them I would or will watch for free if they show up on streaming services. Bunch of sickos making movies these days.

reply

I'll watch Baby Driver for free...

reply

Good. Glad you won't be stealing 'in theater' movies off of illegal streaming services.

reply

I was not talking about anything illegal ... Amazon, Hulu or Netflix, just to clear that up.

reply

Most of these are "filler" movies. You will notice that there are also a ton of remakes coming up in the future. Now days it is not so much as the ideas they put in movies as much as how they want to technologically advance it.

reply

You're right, arvin. Now days, the movies that make alot of money have no story.

Baby Driver

I'm convinced that half the users on here are over 60.

"I'm convinced that half the users on here are over 60. "

Why is that? Please explain.....

It's just a lot of grumbling about "kids these days with their cellphones" and "everything is filth nowadays why can't we go back to the wholesome good ol' days" and Guitar King throwing a fit when someone insults his God Emperor.

reply

I see....
I confess that I am over 60.
I gripe about EVERYBODY with their cellphones because I want to hang around a bit longer! People are actually driving and texting. NOT a good thing!
As for the filth nowadays, I'd love to know where that is! Everything is so PC! What are you talking about?

reply

I'm not 60😉

Except that movies today are shit, in general... even compared to the early 2000s or the 90s...

It's all CGI spectacles, basically cartoon ads to sell toys and merchandise... infantilised nerdism...

The mid-budget adult drama or genre movie (Thriller, Sci-fi, Horror, etc...), is no longer made regularly by Hollywood... these have always been the best movies, aesthetically, sensually and philosophically...

It doesn't matter how old you are... rent a few older movies from the early 2000s or the 90s and notice how much better they are than the drivel that passes for movies today... Open Your Eyes... actually, that's not a bad one to start with... watch Vanilla Sky, an excellent Hollywood adaptation of a wonderful Spanish movie called Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes)... Hollywood doesn't make them like this anymore, yet this kind of movie was commonplace just a little over a decade ago... Alternatively, check out Unfaithful (2002), a drama/thriller about an affair... none of the earnest oscar-bait movies or indie dramas come close to the sensuality and layers of meaning as this does, none of them manage to add intrigue to the mix as well..

I'm not going to go back to the 70s, 60s or 50s... or to point to seminal movies that wouldn't be made today... no need...

I tend to agree, but that's my own personal opinion and preferences. I look at the new releases, "In Theatres," and very rarely see anything I'm interested in seeing.

However, I have seen a number of decent indie films made after the 90s and early 2000s. None of great note, as I can't think, off hand, of a single title to mention.

Who is Guitar King's God Emperor? I confess I had enough of him and put him on ignore, so haven't read his posts in a month or more.
