What is the cheapest way to get Showtime for a few months?

I want to watch twin peaks. I currently have expanded basic cable but not showtime. I also have Amazon prime (sorry to all the amazon boycotters).
I know Showtime can be gotten from Amazon (watch on computer) , iTunes (watch on phone or ipad) and by upgrading my cable TV plan, but which one is cheapest? I plan to cancel it after twin peaks season is over.
does anyone know offhand or do I have to dig around.
I know there is a free trial but it won't last long enough to cover the whole season of twin peaks, so I will eventually have to pay for a month or two.

Couldn't you just wait until it was mostly done... then binge watch it during the free trial?

That's probably the best legal way to do it.

reply

Yabbut that requires willpower and patience and avoiding all spoilers for months. LOL I dunno if i can do that!
If I could hide in a cave for a couple of months that would be the cheapest. But i want to be able to chat with y'all after watching an episode.

I loved the original and I had a group of college friends who used to watch it together. People had Twin Peaks parties, at a different house each week and we'd have donuts and pie and it was a social thing. So now that it's back, I don't have nearby meatspace friends to watch it with but I do have moviechat! So I really want that social aspect again. It's a pop culture phenom and it's less fun when you aren't in synch with the world.

I was planning to do an add on to Hulu Plus... you can get Showtime for a little extra... though there are commercials. I already use Hulu Plus so it wouldn't be much more but to pay for both subs would be a lot. I'm sure you could google illegal streams but be careful of malware and viruses. I try to support shows I like so even though I know how to bootleg I also try to pay when I can to keep them going. Many people think this is dumb, but if no one pays... eventually we will just have less good shows to watch.

I don't use pirated sites, I also am not against paying for something that I consume. I just want to get the best deal if there is a significant difference.
When Game of Thrones is on, I get HBO NOW for a couple of months. But it's super laggy when I watch it on my laptop, it's only really watchable on my ipad which is an awfully small screen for dragons.
I don't know if the showtime app would have the same problem when watching on a laptop.
Maybe I'll go ahead and add showtime to my cable plan, at least the quality and size will be decent.

I've used the Showtime ap and it worked great for me -- no lags.

I was in the same situation a while back, wanting to see just one show, so used the free month offer, and then paid for the two additional months. It was something like $13 a month. It's higher watching ala carte on Amazon.

reply

yeah that is what I need to figure out- comparing iTunes app vs amazon ala carte vs my cable company.
I'll call the cable company first to get their price.

reply

Yeah look into the Hulu add-on also... I'm guessing the commercials are not for premium channel only regular network shows. Hulu is not as smooth as Netflix... but it's pretty reliable. You can also pause a show and let it load for awhile to avoid buffering.

reply

I don't have paid Hulu currently, so if I did Hulu I would have to get the base + the add on, which might add up to more than just the add-on for my cable.

reply

yeah if that $13 deal exists... it sounds like the best plan.

So when I whine it's a bad thing. You were given a suggestion....

reply

When you whine it's a bad thing.
When you copy and paste silly fights from other threads it's a bad thing.
When you try to drag other people into your silly fights it's a bad thing.
When you make false analogies it's a bad thing.
When you stalk newbies to every thread they make to harass them, it's a bad thing.
All of this nonsense is bad. Knock it off.

reply

-_-
False analogies are subjective.
I never stalk newbies unless they call me out (and they basically lead me to their thread). That's legal forum etiquette.

Well, if you are so heated, I think you whining is BAD!!

Knock it off!

Whining is bad from whoever does it.

We cannot be hypocrites here!

reply

There was no whining in this thread until you turned up. You seriously need to stop this childishness. The scale is tipping the wrong way lately.

reply

Oh okay...so you were not whining (sarcasm).

FYI: I came on this thread to call you out because you did so in one of my threads. Do not make me post it like I did to the newbie.

I am hoping you have read all my threads and will be upstanding enough to figure it out!

And honestly, no one cares Popcorn, about the whining. It is just between you and I. As for the newbie, I have like four to five other people on PM that knows she is a troll. I have no idea why side with her. You're pretty intelligent, not so much when you side with her.

Back before the digital age when socializing was done IN PERSON. Sigh... God I miss those days. 😒😒😒😒

I've come up with a cunning plan.
1. get the free trial month from the showtime app on amazon.
that covers me for 30 days.

2. when that free trial expires, cancel it and then get the free month from my cable provider. That covers the second month of twin peaks. There are only 8 episodes in this season, so SHAZAM, I've gotten it all free. legally.

There are supposedly 10 more episodes but I don't think they will be played continuously from now to ep 18. I think it's a split season, so for the last 10 episodes I will need to pay since i will have used up my free trials.

reply

Imdb has the dates running in consecutive weeks until September 3rd.

reply

aha, okay thanks! I only checked wikipedia and it only listed 8 episodes.
well at least I have 60 days covered...

reply

Good plan. You seem like a resourceful person. I'm predicting that the Showtime people will end up paying you to watch it.

reply

Muahahaha!
