I know right? It's awful. He was part of the fabric of my 90s. :(

reply

Very sad. He had a great voice and wrote some amazing music. R.I.P.

reply

Yes he did. He was one of the cornerstone voices that came out of that time and movement.
RIP, and way too soon, too.

reply

So sad.Amazing voice,I can't think of the right word to describe it.Suffice to say the first time I heard him I said "Who IS this?"
He actually made a really great James Bond theme too.

reply

A lot people always praised Eddie Vedder as the greatest voice from the Seattle scene, but I always preferred Cornell's even though I have nothing against Eddie's. Chris had a great sound.

reply

That's the great thing about Temple of the Dog's "Hunger Strike", you get to hear both sing the same melody and compare them. Verdict: both amazing! The best part is when they are singing together in harmony. Chris's voice is smoother, Eddie's is very distinctive.

Their voices are very similar that's for sure.☺

Black dog
Drinks from the water
Trying to cool his tongue
Like the king
Finds no peace
His work is never done
Night falls
Smoke on the water
Darkness closes in
Cold white hand, in the deep
Will drown you for your sin

I was so sad to create this thread this morning, but thank you for the thank you. :)

It's all just awful.

It's funny, I've stayed quite calm all day until now when the details are coming out. . . and it's even sadder. I feel for his family.

It's a life long expedition
Second guessing your decisions
Trying to find out what's been missing
Pages keep on filling

reply

My daughter had tickets to see them in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow night.

Crying out
Go and wake the king
Call to arms
For those who kiss the ring
Stand your ground
The walls are coming down
It's do or die
Do or die

reply

Well at least he "won't go hungry."

I smell a ban coming soon.

Nah, he just made a mildly flippant remark based on a lyric; it's cool. This thread has been very pleasant and respectful; one little joke is fine. :)

I believe it's a she...
And I just calls em likes I sees em. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰
(And I usually refrain from using the "T" word but... 😐)

RIP Mr Cornell, may your music be remembered throughout the ages to come.
