Request to Jim -- "latest" post live link?

Don't know if this is the right place for site suggestions or if this has already been discussed, but is there any chance of the "three minutes ago" etc column at the right of a board view becoming a live link like they were on IMDb?

I always liked to click on that right hand Latest column to go straight to the most recent post someone made; it's probably not everyone's way of revisiting a thread but I used that method a lot. It would be nice to have that column be direct links to the post in question.

I know you're probably way too busy already Jim, but just thought I'd throw that in!

I second this, if Jim can do it and has the time.

I always used that link to read posts on IMDb. Having a go to latest post inside a thread is an improvment on having to scroll to find it, but having the link outside the thread on the list of threads was handier.

"jump to latest" does the same? you guys want that feature implemented on the latest column.

i would actually want a back and forth button from the latest. So we can navigate in posted order

Jump to Latest once inside a thread is good, but yes, I mean it was also handy to have that same latest live link on the the board view of all the threads, in the column at the right of the screen where it says "two minutes ago," ten minutes ago, etc.

Ideally having both that on the "outside" and keeping jump to latest within the thread also.

Jump to latest works just fine once you're already in a thread, except if I hit the back button, wanting to go back to a board, I have to hit it twice. Instead of one click in to read newest post, and one click back out to the board.

I'm with you Prelude.

It would be so much quicker than opening it up and then having to click on "jump to latest".

I think that was one of the best things that IMDb ever did with their Message Boards.

By the way, www.filmboards.com already had this done a long time ago. {Edit: The link doesn't work--Another glitch that Jim needs to fix}

Jim changed the way to make links live, using standard BB code -- [ url][ /url] (without the spaces, of course).

You're right, but it shouldn't have to. If it works from copy and paste, then it should work as a link too. Wouldn't you agree?

Jim needs to fix that.

All of the links I've posted have been from copy/pastes, but also must have included the http://.

Although, when I copied the URL for Google's home page, there was no http, so yes, I agree with you.

As noted above, you have to include http:// within the code.

I'm relieved to see I'm not the only one who likes this link on the "outside" view of the board threads! The Jump to Latest is great inside a thread, and I wouldn't want that switched out, but I got so attached to the way IMDb had it on the column of Latest. To have both would be great.

Having said that, Jim is already busting a gut giving us this great site and improvements, I can live without it if I have to. But yeah, it was a really quick way to jump right back in.

I think it's a reasonable request and easy enough to implement. But yeah, two clicks (first the title then jump to latest) instead of one is not a really big deal. So I'm good with either one.

I feel like I'm asking for cherries as well as sprinkles on my ice cream, lol! But I thought I'd just put it out there if Jim feels like looking into it. :)

Yes this is a great idea. Many message boards have this. Just add a column to the index, that shows the timestamp of the last reply and the name of who made that last reply.
the timestamp would be an active link to that specific reply.
