Someone contacted me yesterday, over it. I guess what one could use it for is if someone wanted to respond to my deleted thread; however, I still do not get the purpose of it. You might as well write about things publicly.

Well, that is true. For my above case, I was never really sure anyone wanted to know why my thread was deleted.

I haven't yet found any reason to send anyone a PM since we've had them, but am sure eventually I will. It's a great feature, which I used reasonably often on IMDb.

Yeah, private message service are always useful even if you barely use it. I hardly used it to message strangers, but every now and then, you want to make sure you get a direct line with them, rather than hope they see your thread or post directed to them. And also, sometimes you just want to tell someone something that you don't want to say in public. So there are uses, even if you seldom use it.

I agree with you Shredder, It's a handy feature to have. Also, I have formed close friendships via message services and am still in touch with those friends today. Which was one of the reasons why I was sad when IMDb closed because we could so easily lose contact? I may still have lost some of those close friends, and hope one day they turn up here or on social media. I am thrilled it's back.
