If I had to pick a favorite director, he'd be the one, not only because of the neo-realist movement, but he's made a handful of great movies...

-Bicycle Thieves
-Umberto D
-Shoeshine
-Sunflower
-The Roof
-Two Women
-Miracle in Milan
-Marriage Italian Style
-The Gold in Naples

I still haven't saw a bad movie of his, and I didn't mention the 7/10 movies.. Most are around the internet, check em out!

I also like Capra, Cassavetes, Altman, Kurosawa, Bergman, Huston, etc.

If you have recommendations I haven't saw, I'll watch em :)

Nowhere near as good as the master: Stanley Kubrick.

Kubrick was my favorite at 17, but I can't even put him in my top 5 now. Great technician, but I never noticed any warmth..

I don't think he was ever going for warmth. He was going for perfection, and he came closer than any other director imho.
