shareWhat have I missed? What's new?
I expect I'll find the updates eventually, but it'd be nice to know what to look for, and what I'm missing out on.
Does anyone know if an option to read the posts in a flat mode is coming. Where they all just go straight down. I absolutely hate the indentation style. I'm not sure what's it called. Thanks.
shareNesting
shareIt's called nesting mode and personally I think it's great; it makes it very visibly clear who is replying to whom. In straight mode I've seen people often get confused and ask if the last reply was aimed at them. In "nest" it's clear if it is or not.
shareyeah. that's it. Hopefully we get an option to choose like there was on IMDB.
shareAgree. While I appreciated IMDB tried to accommodate those who wanted to view posts by most recent and who had replied to whom, it was too confusing. Certainly a small thing in life to get irritated over, but I disliked it when someone who viewed the boards in flat mode would respond to one of my posts because it was the most recent, yet had nothing to do with my post.
shareYep, I kind of think nesting is the only sensible way for forum posts to be, but I guess people have their reasons for seeming to prefer in-line -- I can't fathom why! But I guess having options would help give everyone their choice.
I really like nest though, so I'm happy with what MovieChat has here.
I think it works better in theory. Usually I check and see if anyone else has posted before the nod. If so that way everyone is included. I do we hope we get messenger
shareI prefer nesting now I didn't when I first started. You can easily notice who started the conversation, and who has changed the convo slightly. It's much easier to read. On the whole, I prefer it this way. But that's just me. It shows when you have replied in that conversation too, which is a nice touch.
shareI understand why some people prefer flat: it's because they can easily read all the newest posts to a thread.
With nested, and only a link to jump to the very newest post, you can miss the other new(er, but not newest) posts. But the obvious drawback is unless everyone quotes and refers to the author of an individual post (which most don't do, because they use nested), viewing in flat mode you can't tell who's responding to whom.
I'm very happy MC has nested now :)
