Catbooks
I can't see your notification when you reply to my posts either π€
shareReally? That's weird. I've been missing a few notifications too today, and I think last night.
Did you get one for this post?
[deleted]
There were posts by you in some thread I couldn't see either, Dazed. I think it has to do with the ignore feature. As in if you or I reply to someone who's on the other's ignore list, we can't see the replies other people make.
shareYeah I think that could be it cat
share[deleted]
Yeah, I think that's what happens. You can't see any replies (nested posts) following anyone you've ignored.
share[deleted]
Same here. Lots of posts by many people I haven't seen. But Leia has nailed it. It's whenever replies get nested, following the post of anyone you have on ignore.
Nope, there's no way at present to access our ignore lists. I'm sure Jim will fix that, as soon as he gets a chance.
I haven't had any trouble with your posts cat
Thanks, Strannger. We've figured out the problem now. I'm sure fixing it is on Jim's (no doubt lengthy) To Do list.
shareWhat happened? I like to know in case I ever suffer that problem and know how the site works.
shareThe deal is, at present, if someone replies to someone you have on ignore, you won't be able to see any posts that follow said ignored person's post, or (obviously) the ignored person's post.
I get the general reasoning behind this being the default. Many people don't want to see posts of those they've ignored quoted (which kind of defeats the purpose), and that often happens with replies to an ignored person. So it does make some sense, but I'd rather be able to see all other posts except those I've put on ignore, and gather most here feel the same way.
Oh I see. Thank you.
shareNo prob. I hope Jim fixes this as soon as he can. Meanwhile I'm just appreciative of the old IMDB threads being here, and a report and ignore button.
shareMe to. At first I didn't like this style as I've grown accustomed to imdb of writing sideways, but now it feels like home. I feel like in a way a few of us have become like a close net group enjoying movies and getting to know each other. I enjoy coming here. Is that how it is for you?
shareSame for me. I like the clean, uncluttered interface -- better than IMDB's -- and also like the feeling of intimacy, and getting to know new people.
I never hung out at all on the general boards there, but am enjoying General Discussion here, and the fact that there are whole different groups of people who dove right into the various film/show-specific boards, without bothering to come here at all. So it's a nice mix.

Dazed, isn't it weird how many of us never went to the general boards on The Site That Must Not Be Named, yet feel very at home on and attracted to the General Discussion board here?
share[deleted]
Same here. I never went to the main boards and I visit them now more of curiosity. Its also a great way to stay informed. To be honest I didn't know imdb
Had them to begin with
I think you're right. When you go to the home page, you see Trending, and nothing else until you scroll down. Then General Discussion is the first thing, and it was obvious it was very active, so most of us went here, and then stayed.
I wandered into the Politics board once or twice, but yikes, no thanks.
You don' think you can bulldoze the politics board?
Good to know you have limits.
You won't be able to if she replies to you in a thread that was started by someone that you blocked, and vise versa.
shareI didn't block herπ
shareNo, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that if there is a person that you blocked within that thread, then all comments from all people replying to that thread will become invisible to you. It sucks. Hopefully Jim will adjust that and make it so that ONLY the blocked person's comments will be invisible to the person doing the blocking.
