Movie Awards board is specifically made for this. Start a thread there as well.

True. I've mentioned this a couple times too. Since the specific boards are not as busy as this board, it a good idea to list the same post on both the subject specific boards and this board as well. You're most likely to get more replies on this board. For now, until the other boards start picking up more business. 😊

I have one name and one name only....

RALPH FIENNES!!!!

Does he not have an Oscar at all? If not he has been robbed.

reply

He has been robbed more than any other. It's a travesty!!!!!!!!

Kate Winslet for Best Supporting Actress, Sense and Sensibility

Shakespeare in Love instead of Saving Private Ryan. I think that Forrest Gump deserved to win best picture, not sure why it got so much criticism for winning, just because a film is popular and not "edgy" enough doesn't mean that it's a bad movie.

Ralph Fiennes for Schindler's List (Tommy Lee Jones/The Fugitive)
Edward Norton for American History X (Roberto Benigni/Life Is Beautiful)
Edward Norton for Primal Fear or William H. Macy (Cuba Gooding, Jr./Jerry Maguire)
Norton should have at least been nominated for Fight Club
David Thewlis is a good choice but I don't know what year Naked was released
Natalie Portman was great but I never saw Jessica Lange (Blue Sky) if she's considered lead actress, for supporting actress she was better than Dianne Wiest
It's apples and oranges comparing him to James Coburn, but I'd have given John Goodman a Supporting nomination for the Big Lebowski.
Tom Cruise for Magnolia (Michael Caine/Cider House Rules)
Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves) or Brenda Blethyn (Secrets and Lies) over Frances McDormand but it's also apples and oranges
Al Pacino was better in Donnie Brasco than that Scent of a Woman garbage. I would've picked RDJ for Chaplin.
John Goodman for Barton Fink (Jack Palance/City Slickers)
Lorraine Bracco (Good Fellas) or Annette Bening (The Grifters) should've beat Whoopi
Marisa Tomei's performance was cute in My Cousin Vinny but probably shouldn't have won an Oscar... she was way better in The Wrestler
I don't remember Mercedes Ruehl's performance in the Fisher King but it seemed average.
