IMDb2 owner: He can see your IPs

shareWho do you know from Estonia?
shareA former moderator from IMDb2 showed me this screenshot. This was when IMDb2 was new. They got rid of him
shareGood information to be aware of. Most IPs route through a local station though making narrowing them down to addresses or even neighbourhoods very difficult.
There are also those who use proxies when on the Internet to hide their IP too.
Yes but they can also see your email
i have reported cyberbullying here https://www.proboards.com/report-abuse

"A former moderator from IMDb2 showed me this screenshot."
Silly Ben. That's not even a screenshot from IMDB2.
Bridge, Ben. Bridge. Build one.

Every admin on every site can see your IP.
Welcome to the Internet.
Admin of that site is a former imdb troll, and he also knows your emails.
shareThey ban you and it doesn't show that you were banned. Other people think that the user is still active and isnt posting
shareIt's called a "shadow ban". (Edit: It isn't!)
Very effective against trolls, but if that guy is an asshole he's probably playing with that option.
Wait, I misunderstood... It's just a dick move then.

exactly!
How are there still people in 2017 who are surprised by this?
Exactly Traveler.
Administrators can always see your IP and email address, at least on every board that I've been a staff member on. They have to have a way to run a spam check on your IP or email prior to approval, or they will be endlessly flooded with spammers.
Most the boards that I've been a staff member on also had an extension that displayed the members IP next to their profile.
I don't post there, but it's pretty standard for any message board admin to be able to see IPs of the posters. It's a standard feature. You should assume that jim can also see ours, I would be very surprised if he couldn't.
Unless that other board owner is making that info public, then he is violating the TOU of whatever message board platform he is using.
I've noticed several threads about IMDb2 yesterday and today.
Nothing wrong with giving people a heads up, in case they use another board too, but I have no interest in a them vs us type of vibe.
In fact, seeing some of that on tMDb is one of the things that turned me off about that site.
Agree. Warning people is okay but then let's get back to doing our own thing. I have been though enough board wars, not interested in that whatsoever.
shareSeriously. Who needs board wars? It's just a bunch of useless drama. I want to talk about films and shows, and some general chat.
share"Seriously. Who needs board wars? It's just a bunch of useless drama."
Indeed. I've been saying that all along:
"I honestly have no interest in any kind of personal gain, nor am I going to partake in what appears to be some sort of cut-throat competition for membership." (Feb 8, 2017)

Good for you. People will naturally be drawn to whichever board(s) where they feel most at home. It's ridiculous to have some kind of board competition. There's plenty of room for different boards.
shareThat loser can't even buy a domain. Proboards is about shut down that crappy site. He is sending posters like Senor to spread lies about this site.
I don't care about whether or not he's bought a domain. Why do you?
I have no way of knowing if Senor's thread was legit or not, and it doesn't matter. Lots of people pointed out the increase in activity here, so in the end it served a good purpose. That's all that matters.
I don't care if you don't care. He is using underhanded tactics and i am a former marine i know how to deal with enemies
shareI don't care. He's not an enemy. We're talking about movie/TV message boards here. Take a few breaths and chill, dude, all is well :)
shareIf you don't care then don't post in these threads!
Someone has to be the voice of reason ;p
Luckily there are several others. As far as I can see, you, Gameboy, and a couple others are fanning the flames of a stupid drama that has no place here, or reason for it.
We are preventing them from coming here and advertising their site pretending to be users who are complaining about supposed lack of activity here.
shareNo, you're just causing a lot of drama.
shareNo we are just telling users not to believe their lies.
shareYou just joined this site today!
Up until this absurdity erupted today, there were a whole TWO threads that MIGHT (or might not) have been started by someone from another board. There's no proof that's the case.
Both threads had been handled, by many existing posters here, myself included, pointing out that yes, traffic and posts and posters are growing here.
Now you just want to make this a big deal, when it's not. That's all you're doing. It's not helping anything or anyone, least of all MovieChat.
You think it is not helping moviechat. You are wrong. We are not the ones going. They are coming here. I discovered moviechat through google. Also, i have observed the other site and i agree with the people who are warning us about that place and their users.
shareYeah that is why you are banning anyone who doesn't kiss your ass. Fuck off moron and don't promote your shitty site here. You cannot even afford to buy a domain for yourself.
shareonly creeps watch well IP
